Rethinking cleanse and Malzahar ult

Let me preface this by saying, I have always disliked Malzahar more than almost any other champion. Maybe I'm just bad, but I'd rather face anyone else than him in mid.

So, Malzahar ult isn't able to be cleansed. At some point in the game this made sense, and I'm sure that in some cases it still does. And I'm not saying that you can't beat him in lane, you absolutely can, but it bothers me a lot when I'm playing an ap champion and I have to spend 1300 to buy qss (a dead end item for mages, if you need reminded).

I know that having cleanse be able to get rid of Malz ult would nerf an already bad champion substantially, but I would rather him have far more damage and me be forced to switch tp/ignite to cleanse than have to spend any lead I get on just surviving him pressing r.

Or even make a qss item that is just health/MR/ whatever, or one that gives AP, I wouldn't mind buying either of those as there are still valuable stats to be had from buying qss outside of just a small amount of MR.

Anyways, I just don't like being forced to spend a full 1300 gold to defend against a champion that already can shove lanes quick and cheap, meaning that whatever lead I am able to get is practically nullified.

I would really like to get opinions from you guys, are you fine with how Malzahar's ult works and the counters to it, or would you rather have something done to change his ult, even if it means seeing him buffed?
