Why do mobility abilities overpower disables?

Why is it when you successful land a stun or disable on someone while they are using a mobility ability, they're not stopped at the spot the disable lands? It takes far more effort and skill to successfully land a disable, most tending to be skill shots, over the mobility moves, which tend to be buffs or point and clicks. A player successfully landing a disable on someone just as they're about to move should be rewarded by stopping them, and the other player should be punished for being caught out at such bad time. It's absolutely ridiculous even in situations in which the movement duration is about the same time as the disable duration, thus COMPLETELY wasting the disable, leading you with either nothing or being put into a bad spot despite properly landing your ability.

Defend this utter nonsense.

because majority of disables are AOE and more often than not 3-4 people will have one

your change would make it completely impossible to play a good handful of champions

because mobility is flashier uninterrupted

Its a crutch. Trist is out of position and deservedly gets CC'd? Her W still goes off.

Because any champion with a disable, even on a skillshot, could stop any telegraphed engage by waiting for it start and firing their ability straight at their animation-locked enemy.

For example, if Lux Q stopped Talon Q, as long as her Q were up, he could never engage on her because she could just root him mid-air and walk away. So, Lux would just keep Q up, and Talon would never engage on her.

Veigar's E can stop dashes (and catch some who are being displaced, I think), and Yas's dash is stoppable.

Because that's how it works, there isn't a better answer but you also don't really have a good reason for it to work differently.

When a champion starts a dash the game begins moving them towards the final position of the dash and the disables in question do not modify position in any way. The game was built around this because it is one possible interpretation for how stuns and roots could work. The game proceeded to be balanced around this mechanic for about a decade so suddenly changing things would do a lot of harm to the balance of the game.

You have to use knock ups for any non-blink spell.

How else would you right click and kill people with a champion with a built in knockback, long range and a leap that can be used when you see CC coming to ignore it and reposition.

Some types of CC actually stop dashes ... displacements such as dravens E and threshs flay or knockups can stop dashes but even simple CC like jinx E and liss R stop dashes too... I think its mainly to create balance for example, Ahris E used to be able to stop dashes but it made it hard for people to get close so by removing the ability to stop dashes it made it easier to deal with her
