Non-traditional Supports

So I like playing some non-traditional supports from time to time, and usually they work out. Just wondering: A) How people feel when their support player picks a non traditional support, and B) What are some of those supports you feel like is good and like to play?

I never mind my support picking just about anything they want as long as they pay attention, dont feed in lane, and ward properly.

I personally love Gangplank support. Strong poke and will almost always win all-in 2v2's at early levels, and his level 6 all-in is extremely strong. Buffs movement speed and attack damage of whole team and the ult is global so you can help your mid and top laners. Start relic shield, build Triforce, Shiv, then whatever else you want.

I also like Nautilus support. Extremely strong early all-ins. Anchor landing on a ADC or squishy support at level 3 is a guaranteed flash. Easy to build full tank.

Volibear is also good against most matchups though I would avoid Lulu, Morg, and Nami.

I recommend for kicks that you try a Ziggs support. Start with thief's edge. Build a sitestone, then a chalice. Zone enemy with Q and E to interfere with enemy adc cs and to harrass, (for fun u could lay satchel in a spot that prevents him hitting the seige minion and pop it to knock him back if he steps in range) and avoid minions while proccing your thief's edge. his passive buff to his autoattack along with the additional autoattack dmg modifier from thief's edge both work well together. :)

Mines and satchel are good for bush checks when needed, satchel will give actual bush vision, where mines will make audible sound and both proc the gp5 so seeing that u earned gold accumulating in the air +5+5... tells u if u hit anything anyway. and mines and satchel are good at stopping ganks and engages, laid adjacent or overlapping can cut off a good portion of the lane or river.

I like to turn the chalice into Mikhaels for further supportiness, and I usually waste wards/overward so I get the rubysitestone which adds some health. Then I recommend going into armguard and haunting guise, and turn them into liandris and zhonyas in whatever order works best for ur situation. They both increase ur ability to do damage while having some defensiveness. The mines get the full liandri's proc in teamfights.

U can get the cloth armor or full armguard earlier for some earlier protection in lane against the adc. Can also pick up a doran's shield somewhere in early laning phase for regen and sustain and anti-adc.

Seems sorc boots, ionian boots, or mobi boots are all good choices.

Yorick is pretty good yeah. Just hate that he has serious mana issues.

Ziggs seems okay though a hard engage like Leona or a pull like Blitz and he would probably die.

warwick support seems kind of broken imo

Jinx with item 3071 and item 3085 that AoE armor shredding...

She also got good CC for support.

Good old JarvanIV support is still fun to play with if they know what they're doing. I know he's been mentioned, but Gangplank makes a pretty awesome support. I play it and don't mind having him either.

One of my favorite non-traditional supports is definitely Anivia Anivia .

She has everything an offensive support needs: an AoE stun, a HUGE AoE slow, decent damage without farm, an auto-revive to tank early engages and double her HP, and something no other support has yet (which surprises me) with her ice wall, which has the added effect of granting vision.

Build item 3303 and upgrade ASAP to item 3098: even though she has high mana costs, her auto attack range is enormous and makes the gold proc reliable and easy. Grab item 3028 or item 3010 for mana sustain, and don't forget to rush item 2049 to give proper support. After building those core items, you can either build AP items for damage (Rabadon's, Void) or you can go tanky with supportive tank items like Aegis, Forzen Heart, or Randuin's.

For skills, either level stun for the lower cooldown/higher AoE damage, or the wall for superior utility. Your job isn't to deal damage, so don't worry about your E.

In lane, bully whoever's in front with auto attacks since your range is so huge. If you're up against a healing support, try not to waste mana on poking with spells unless you know you can get a kill after landing your stun, which depends a lot of your ADC and your position in lane, and whether or not your jungler is ganking.

Anivia synergizes amazingly well with Vayne Vayne : with excellent coordination, you can set up a wall for Vayne to condemn them into. She also works well with Jinx or Caitlyn because with a good stun, they can set traps underneath whoever got stunned to snare them in place for even longer. Ashe also works well because their slows/stuns combined can be devastating. I think Anivia honestly works well with any ADC for different reasons, but I've seen exceptional success with those ones.

I've seen Yorick support do very well. His poke is strong with his E, and the slow on his W can be an easy kill for your ADC
