How the heck to I get my team to group?

Everyone on my team is ahead, the enemy is getting stomped, I said we should group mid and try to force a teamfight we should win. 1 or 2 people come but then they leave mid to clear bot or top wave and after a few mins we just started to get rekt because the enemy was grouping and we were not. then finally we group as five ace them take baron then we are 3 people who WOULD be able to end but they wanted to splitpush. so eventually they got strong from getting picks on us and they group mid ace us take elder drag, take baron then they end the game.

We would have won if the rest of my team grouped.

So... does anyone know any methods of getting your team to group?

I find that it helps to assign somebody to split push or to give the teammates an indication of when it will be good to split off like that.

For example: "top laner go bot to clear out that wave, I'll drop a ward if a fight breaks out so you can TP to join us."

Or another example: "We need to group and take this while we still have the opportunity, afterwards we can split off to clear the side lanes and buy items and other stuff."

Edits:

Obviously you'd want to say it in fewer words than I did, but these are the general idea.

By giving teammates a clear goal and a sense of urgency, we give them the guidance to choose correctly. Also by including what it is they want to do, saying "you can clear the side lanes after this objective" it makes them less likely to think that you are just flat out saying no to what they want, and it will make them want to cooperate more.

Yeah, don't chat. Instead use the blue ping (the nameless one). As a bonus: if something goes wrong, they have no clue who to blame so it reduces rage :3

Teammates are like cats, they like laserpointers.

u dont, u change ur own gameplay to fit with what ur team is doing. instead i bet u suicided mid like 10 times in a row and complained "team wtf i said group" and in the end u lost ur team the game.

u cant control what they do. u have to adapt to what they do.

Make sure sidelanes are pushed before you group mid. If my teammate spams "assist me" in mid while we've got a wave of 18-20 minions about to smash our top tower, I'm going to get that minion wave first. Don't want to lose a tower to negligence.

Sometimes the players are the great example of the characters from most horror movies. These characters are usually stupid and thinks that splitting up is a great idea in a haunted house... We all know that it won't end well for them... People should watch it and take notes off of it to improve their decision making on grouping.

Be the beacon of hope and protect them so they get the message that sticking together is helpful.

That’s how it works for me.
