I am having a hard time learning how to use lucian and ahri well. I cant tell what im doing wrong. Lucian i use standard adc runes and masteries and build mostly standard. However, i cant seem to grasp how to get alot of damage out in trades in lane. Teamfights are usually okay until extreme late game when against vayne or jinx, but i mostly need laning tips in general for lucian and adc in general.

Ahri i have trouble getting burst and killing my lane opponent and when to trade in general in early stages of laning. I'm not that good at mid lane yet which may be why, but I feel like ahri lacks damage, for me at least. I know shes more of a sustained damage mage but im still having trouble. I also need help with when to roam. I know some of the more obvious tips for roaming and when and where, but does anyone know some finer points to roaming to help me?

I could probably help you at some point. You'd just have 2 add me on league.

I was in the same situation with fizz in season3/4. I was never able to play him well/get good DPS from him. I tried him again season 5 and I had done SO much better then I had before, this was after taking a long break from him. Maybe it's just overall game knowledge that I gained. But idk what happened and how i got better.

Do you play similar champions to them? Or do you not normally play AP assassins(like ahri) or adcs(like lucian)?

Yes, Ahri has low damage for a carry because of her high mobility and decent utility. I recommend playing fairly passively in lane at levels 1 and 2, and start harassing regularly at level 3 (when your Q is level 2, it gets bad damage for its mana at level 1). At level 4 she starts picking up and it starts being worth charm comboing people. She only really gets dangerous after level 6. You will still need to hit a few Qs before you can burst them, and you will need to land charm when you go in.

Playing passive early levels helps bring the lane towards you where you'll be safe from early ganks, once you start harassing more you'll push out. Be sure to ward when you extend, Ahri is very gank vulnerable pre6. If you don't think you have a good shot at killing your lane opponent, for whatever reason (they bought mr, they're under their tower, they're stronger than you) try to just shove the wave and roam. Ahri usually builds item 3165 first largely for the CDR, in skirmishes where you often can't burst your killing power is based on when you get off your second Q and W. Also having your ult up more frequently is very important.

Oh, conveniently both of your champions stem from similar Ranged Caster based play styles. If it's a mechanical hurdle you need to handle, which from the sounds of it may be the case, then learning one will immediately grant you skills with the other.

Lucian has a lot of delayed burst. Relative to other Marksmen, a full rotation of his spells hurts a lot more than average. This heavily relies on you utilizing your passive to its fullest, however. A good Q-AA will easily chunk some of your more squishy adversaries, for example. In the case of using Lucian, try to slow down and think on your moves. Q-AA is where your damage is, and you really should focus on the mobility that your W and your E grant you above all else. All of your damage sits in your Q or your passive, so it's safe not to continuously auto attack like normal Marksman if you need to dodge abilities. If you use your W and your E correctly(defensively) though, this should be easy.
