Playing Lux into Yasuo

I'm looking for tips on playing Lux into Yasuo. Of all of the common midlane opponents, Yasuos (specifically, machanically-sound ones) give me more trouble than the rest.

My general laning strategy is to abuse early, since Lux can trade well with her passive, especially against melee. Yasuo makes it a little harder to get mana-efficient trades unless you pop his shield, so I will try for an AA+E+AA combo to poke. The really aggressive Yasuos will jump on you and start the outplay-or-be-outplayed game, while the defensive ones will wind wall. In short, early game trades are more difficult against Yasuos (for me) than most other champs.

That's fine, of course, but I'm looking for tips to play against him better. Once we hit 6, I pretty much submit to the reality that I won't kill him without a hard CC gank, and I also can't push the lane safely unless I know he has gone back or roamed, since he can just jump on me at any time and murder my unborn children.

TL;DR - Yasuo is hard for me as Lux. I'm bad.. help me stop embarrassing myself against this very skill-reliant champ.

I know a thing or two about lux vs yasuo...its my favorite matchup

what you do is AA him as much as you can. He walks to a minion AA to proc his shield(do this always). After his shield is gone focus on hitting your E and procing the passive when he goes to farm. DO NOT use your Q unless his wind wall is down! I find the best way to land a Q on Yasuo is to wait until his wind wall is down and he is dashing into minions. Abuse him early before he gets an item. As soon as he has more than 50% crit chance I back off and focus on out ranging him when possible. After he builds 1-2 items avoid getting anywhere near him and help your teamates get fed. I will roam bot lane and get them some kills (or myself a double), make Yasuo leave lane where he is strongest.

All you really have to do is poke him from afar and AA all the time in lane. As soon as he has an item let him push you to tower, he can't trade back that way. Abuse him from under tower and make him waste his wall. Then just land a combo on him and he's pretty squishy most of the time.

Hope i was able to help :)

Not sure if this helps at all, but I've realized that SOME of the Yasuo players I go up against fall for putting up the windwall when I throw out my shield. So try faking them out that way next time. Like someone said above, never Q until you KNOW his windwall is down, otherwise mandingo may take the opportunity to wipe you off the face of the planet.

well..... I can't say im an expert but if you can bait his windwall by using E while he is dashing around you´ll stand a good chance of hitting Q while he's moving towards you. This lets you win trades a little but if he get's near you after 6 without blowing windwall then prepare to flash and run for your life :c

If he jumps on you get your Q ready for as soon as he pops out of all the minions and always keep your distance.

Get fast the CDR items so that you can start spamming your Ult frequently enough to get kills from safest areas. Once lanes are going down Yasuo becomes a problem of your and their team.

As someone who mains Lux, an equally skilled yasuo will beat an equally skilled Lux. You're going to get outfarmed and out sustained. You have to play defensively. The only real tip I have is that you can tell where his dash will end when he starts it so you can land your skills after that but a good Yasuo will dash after you toss something out.

  1. Exhaust and barrier are your friends.
  2. When he's going for you, don't be tempted to use your Q when he has windwall, Try to bait it with your E.
  3. He can't change his direction mid-dash, if he has no windwall, go for a combo to chunk his hp.
  4. If you are really under pressure, its not a bad idea just E->R to clear the wave and back.
  5. Zhonya is your friend.
  6. Don't stand too close to your minions.

Some other tips in terms of strategy.

  1. In the very early game(before lvl 4), you are ranged and his melee, get your shield at lvl 3, stand behind your minions and trade with him. You lose about the same amount of HP as he does, but you have an extra potion than him.
  2. Without windwall, you are just as deadly to him as he is to you, but you have a higher risk due to your CD. Use your E to pressure him into farming and sneak a Q->R combo if he's not paying attention.
  3. After he's low from your pokes, ward the side lanes to prevent enemy gank, and prepare for ally gank.

Don't.

I wouldn't pick Lux into Yasuo as she relies on her Q to do anything. It is possible, but he has way more mobility than you can deal with. I wouldn't recommend Lux to anyone trying to counter a Yasuo.

edit: Srsly though its just a bad matchup that is almost entirely up to the yasuo messing up. the only thing that ever helped me in the matchup was shorting your E so that he can't windwall it and you can hit him with the AOE. otherwise just fish for Q's i guess and ult if you ever land one. Roaming is probably your best bet though.
