Ranked 5s ruined for higher elo?

I have not played for a couple months and have just recently started playing again. Today I got an old group of friends together to play Ranked 5s (something we did together on a regular basis for about a year). The first thing i noticed was that there wasn't a ranked teams queue anymore and there was only that dynamic ranked queue. Thinking to myself "oh ranked 5s much just be down for a bit" i proceed to try and invite my 4 other friends to play. It was then i realized... as a plat player, i could not invite 3 of the players because they were either silver or bronze.

Why was this removed? Why can we not play casually with a range of skill levels. Why must i be punished because I'm a higher elo player and want to play with some of my lower elo friends. Am i really going to have to throw games on purpose on a smurf account just so i can become a silver ranked player to be able to play with the wide skill gap. I really don't see the point in removing the ranked 5s queue.

Someone please tell me I'm not going to have to lose 10 games just to get placed in silver so i can play with my friends.
