My concern about buffing tanks
When tanks are strong all strategies not involving a tank become sub optimal. I think that the approach to tanks needs to be changed to bring them into a state where they can co-exist within the ecosystem of the game. The tank rework missed the mark because it failed to answer a vital question : "What should a tank be able to do?" The current answer is that a tank should be able to build tank items and therefore take longer to kill. Answering the question this way has led to something like a 400% increase in sources of true damage. I want tanks to have a more meaningful impact on a match, but I want that impact to consist of more than building items and taking longer to kill. I think it is time to take a lot of the power out of tank items and put that power directly into the kits of tanks. Give tanks more meaningful buttons to press. Give tanks lower cooldowns. Flesh out niches for tanks that involve interesting ways to help a team that go beyond just meatshielding.
