A Crap Guide to Sett

I played Sett recently and HOLY CRAP he is fun. I might main him but it is to be determined until I see how good Fiddle and Voli are. Anyway, Sett is one of those champions that is kind of easy to play but needs clever reactions in order to make plays. Anyway, Sett is basically what you get when you mix Master Yi, Tahm Kench and Lee Sin altogether and creates Dio Brando. Unlike Aphelios who requires ascended amounts of brain matter to figure out how his kit works fully, Sett's abilities are simple and easy to get around.

Passive: This is literally what keeps you in lane. You get a lot of regen if you have more missing health to the point you will have more base regen early game than freaking Mundo. But that isn't all, his two fists are pretty much what makes his auto attacks unique but not crazy complicated like Jhin or Kalista. Left punch is normal, right punch is faster and stronger, but think of it as a Yi passive, but better, and occurs every hit. It's like the left punch is the bread and the right punch is the butter but of course butter is better than the bread for some reason. Anyway this is what allows sett to win trade-offs very easily, even against champions like Yi. And if you want MORE punching build berserker's greaves and just start hitting them rapidly to the point they can't even win trade offs.

Q: This is the bonus reason why to sett wins trade offs, his next two auto attacks deal bonus max health damage with the right punch still being stronger. AND, you can use this for animation cancelling for cs and for tradeoffs in a 4-hit combo, which if your building conquerer, that's 8 free stacks of conquerer right there. But yea this is what allows him to deal more damage to tanks due to the max health damage.

W (warning there is a lot because this ability is so good): Oh yes, the best part about Sett is what I like to call "The Thicc Shield Punch." Take note, NEVER use it as your first ability, ONLY use it when your grit meter is around 70% or higher and you will do massive damage. In the thin line it deals true damage, the rest of the area is AD and easily mitigated, so land the true damage. The damage you can do with this ability is Disgusting because it is capable of knocking a tank down to death from half health. Anyway, you also get a giant shield for how much grit you have as well, so think of this also as a giant parry. And in team fights, if you get group up, you can pop this ability once the meter is full then just nuke the enemy team in front of you with, if timed right, TRUE damage. This ability is the reason why sett is so good because, when is doubt, W. Is the enemy darius harassing you? W. Is that Garen using an op champion to get the better of you? W. See? W is the solution to everything when playing as sett. Remember when I mentioned the bread and better, well make this ability the Jam of the Sandwich. And sett's whole kit is a knuckle sandwich.

E: Pretty simply ability, it's a rectangular aoe pull. But if you have at least one on each side of you, it stuns, which you can harass your enemy laner with this, followed by your 2 auto 2 Q combo, by using this ability on them with one end with the ability, with a minion on the opposite side to proc the stun. The stun isn't too long too so this ability isn't as crazy as his W, it's just there to help sett up some combos (I am not sorry).

R: Ah yes, Lee sin kick 2.0. This ability is such a bully ability to use because the enemy champion can't do anything about it while using this ability. Not only that, if its a tank and you time it juuuust right it will nuke the enemy team as if you used a fully charged w on them. But to be fair, it's a lee sin kick, but its an aoe slam instead of using an enemy as a skillshot. There is nothing much else to it other than you can WWE slam an enemy over terrain.

Items: As far as I know, do NOT get the recommended boots, ever. If you really want to be a boss, get berserker's greaves because then it makes his passive such a lane-bully tactic along with your q. Then the next most important item is sterrak's, which adds health, damage, and a T H I C C shield along with your W, you basically get a Shield over a Shield. Everything else is pretty much up to you.

Runes: Most of the time, get conquerer, right now its the best rune for Sett because of his passive and q, which will allow you to easily win trade offs even more than Sett originally would. After all, you get insane regen anyway from his passive, so why not get more healing.

Lanes: Personally I take him top lane, because he can be such a nightmare for tanks to deal with. However then again, it's the league community so there is a chance that some casual decides to bring teemo or Vayne or godforsaken quinn up into top lane.

Possible buffs or nerfs: First off, despite how much I adore Sett as a champion, I am sure that Riot will nerf him at some point, if not sooner. The amount of true damage he can dish out with a single w is very strong but on the other hand, that is if he takes enough damage in a period of time in order for it to deal that much of a damage cap, and the meter depletes quickly over time anyway, so who knows, but that shield duration really should be nerfed to be honest. If not the w, one thing I know of that should be nerfed is his Q by a bit, the fact that you can make him go jungle, build him with attack speed, buy bloodrazor, berserk greaves and Bork, and max his q, the max health damage he is going to deal will be INSANE, so decreasing its scaling a bit might help with that.

Playing against Sett: Sett has no dashes (besides his ultimate but he has to use an enemy to do it), so its crucial to kite him with an adc lategame, as for early game when in top lane, you want to keep the pressure on him, and keep an eye out for his W, people make the stupid mistake of running away from sett when he is using it, if you want to mitigate damage (which you will if your a top laner), move to the left or right of the central range to avoid the nuke of true damage and just take the physical damage to mitigate it. Think of it like your driving a car, a car is about to hit you head on, its either you hit the car head on or drive into the ditch, which its smarter to drive into the ditch than be hit by a drunk driver. As for the ult and e... well the ult is a target ability so not much help there except make sure your team scatters when you see him first grab someone to reduce damage, and be careful around him when he has his e up.
