A true marksman class update
A long while back Riot attempted a marksman class update where they tried to make marksmen more unique from each other and destroy the revolving door of only the top 3 marksmen being played that has been happening since seemingly forever. But as everyone can see, that didn't work out, while it did indeed make some marksmen more unique, it didn't get rid of the revolving door problem.
However, I think I know what they need to do in order to actually make marksmen feel truly different and the key comes from two champions,

. Both Jhin and Graves play VERY differently from other marksmen, Graves plays so differently that he's become a jungler instead of a bot lane marksman. Jhin has a set attack speed and can only auto 4 times before he has to reload and can't use auto attacks, Graves has aoe autos that also hits the same target multiple times if used at close range and also has a reloading mechanic.
To make marksmen truly different from each other, the thing they are picked for, their autos, need to be unique from each other. Right now, no matter what they abilities of a marksman are, they are just added bonuses to the main reason they are used, their auto attacks.
So here's some examples (These are just ideas) of what could be potentially done to a couple of marksmen to achieve this. Keep in mind that these changes assume that they would come with additional changes to their current passive or the outright removal of their current passives in exchange for these.
Remove her current Q and replace it with something new, then make it so her auto attacks send out a ricochet bullet that hits an additional enemy. Maybe make it so a crit will cause the bullet to bounce 3 times or something.
Replace his current passive and make it so that every three autos he will launch and auto that reduces the armor of his target by a percentage and leaves behind a small aoe of bile that will further reduce the armor of anyone that stands in it.
Make it so that instead of having some additional true damage on his autos that instead a portion of his autos are dealt as a dot that ignores half of the armor of his enemy. Also, make it so that it really feels like he's infecting people and add a mechanic where his passive will spread to nearby enemies when he hits max stacks, perhaps add an additional effect of his passive reducing the damage of those that are infected, like they're getting sick.
What if Lucian can't auto attack normally by right clicking? Make it so that his abilities have a lower CD, reduce the damage of his Q, remove the mana cost of his E and make it so Doubletap (Yes I know it's Lightslinger) deals full damage on both shots. The point of this is to make it so he's the true spellslinger marksman that gets more DPS from CDR instead of attack speed. Maybe make it so he's actually a manaless marksman and plays a bit like

Reduce her base auto range a bit but in exchange make it so that if she stands still that her range will increase to a certain maximum that's much bigger than what it is currently.
Increase his auto range a bit, remove his current passive and replace his Q and make it so if he doesn't attack for a bit that he charges up (Similar to Caitlyn) and shoots a piercing arrow through his target like his current Q that will go father the longer he doesn't auto.
Make it so instead of having her E passive on her E that it's instead part of her innate and have it so she always deals aoe damage around her target that gets stronger if she kills that target.
Replace his Q with something new and make his current Q his new passive. Every auto he executes creates a spinning axe, this doesn't do as much damage as currently but the more he stacks his axes, the more damage those axes will do, rewarding him with higher and higher damage the longer he can keep his axe combo up.
Now once again, these are all just IDEAS. I'm well aware that there are potential balancing issues with all of these and that additional work would need to be done aside from just what I've listed here.
I'm also well aware that every single marksman player hates my guts and wants me to die because I'm suggesting such a large and significant change to the way all these champions play and they're completely fine with how they play now (Unless they are currently heavily nerfed). The point of all this is just that if marksmen are to be truly unique from one another then the only way to do it is to change how their auto attacks work between all of them.
Please, I want some discussion on this idea but please don't just talk about how you hate the idea of change or what my particular ideas would do to how your favorite champion plays or that it's all just a bunch of gimmicks. The point of this is figuring out an idea to make marksmen truly different from one another and so I want to talk about ways we can do that, even if it's not the idea I've presented here.
