Edge of night active change?

So I was thinking about what if they reduced edge of night to be more of an offensive use so the duration is only some small amount like 2 or 3 seconds

But then I thought what about people like Nocturne who have a bit of a dash time that would make the shield pretty useless.

What if they paused the duration of the shield if a champion was in a channel? Much like how Yi's ult timer gets paused during his meditate now this would help solve the shield lasting forever and keep an offensive focus in its offensive play style without limiting itself too much.
