Ranked is Over but I did not Rank at all only playing Solo/Duo Ranked?

Title says it all, I'm wondering if you needed to place in Flex to get your rank this season? Previous seasons I've only ever played solo/duo q ranked and had never been unranked after season end before. Is there something I'm missing?
