Extreme pressure on mana reliant mages to stall and sustain rather than burst or even poke.
So, I've been playing around with faerie charm starts and other ways of having more mana to use in general. The only problem I have with it right now is the amount of pressure put on mana champions like Ziggs, Lux, Malzahar and Anivia to stall out fights, especially Ziggs and Lux, who are poke mages and tend to use more mana than they regen early on while not having the ability to finish off in one combo like Malzahar or Veigar.
This then makes assassins able to just drink health potions then dive if you aren't EXTREMELY careful with your mana, as every ability cast (I kid you not, every ability cast that takes off your mana in a meaningful way) is a risk, and entire combos early on are suicidal. The only safe way to use mana is for long hard CC abilities that allow you to regen back some mana while they wear off, or under tower with full health and health potions to survive a dive.
I understand mana management is important, but I can't really see much health management in mid lane anymore as most damage in general comes from mana cost ability casts. However, mage v mage lanes are much more safe now and assassin v assassin lanes are less jungler reliant, so that's a good thing, but mage v assassin lanes tend to favour whoever acts last rather than first now.
I honestly don't have many solutions for this problem, other than changing around some turret numbers.
Maybe more damage when no minions are on it, less damage when minions are on it, so now instead of "who acts last", it's mage's waveclear advantage but lack of risky advantage vs assassin's power when out pushing, but at a risk.
