After years of waiting it seems like the main reason that the purple side camera hasn't been fixed can be summed up in one word: Arrogant.
Let me fix that for you. "After years of waiting it seems Purple side camera has been fixed by changing the field of view at the bottom edge of the screen and shifting the camera angle up providing a near perfect rectangle of view." Along with the summoners rift update they made this camera change. The field of view at the bottom of your screen is now nearly identical to your field of view at the top. If that isn't rolled out yet, it will roll out in patch 4.2. It's already applied to PBE.
It's a slight improvement, not a fix. Doesn't do anything about video aspect ratio fitting tower defense on blue side better than purple side. (Ever notice how much of your screen is wasted on space you can't even move in when focused on bottom lane top side of the map?) Doesn't do anything about the HUD blocking valuable screen space.
Offset camera locking or map rotation for purple side as an option... Why would Riot waste all this time on a map revamp without adding the mirror mapping that they've said time and time again can't be done mainly because it would force them to make a new map. Well, the map got remade anyway so I take it as a slap in the face.
