Why is Orianna allowed to still exist in her current state?

It just feels like she can do so much at every point in the game. She has good poke, good shields, good wave clear, a game changing ult and so much more. It feels near impossible to beat a good Orianna in lane because of how safe she can be with her pretty decent ranges. She also continues to be an amazing pick in pro play. I can't remember if there has ever been a time where Orianna was not such a generally good pick. These thoughts could just be the tilt talking so I'd like some input from other people. :)

Orianna is, possibly, one of the best designed champs in the game. Everything she does can be countered in some way, and when you die to her, it doesn't feel like "What the hell just happened?" Its more like "Damn, should have played that better.

Shes a champ that can do well with a lead, can stay even with her opponent, or be completely curb stomped. She has no real mobility, and has to somewhat rely on her team.

She's good because shes reliable. If you're decent on her, she will always perform, but you have to get to that level first......which is actually another good aspect of her design.

Her skill floor isn't the lowest by any means; she's not too easy to pick up. But she is a champ that can really reward the amount of time put into her.

Is she balanced right now? I'd say yes. She's nowhere near as dominating in the pro scene like Cass and Ryze are, and in solo queue, she's hindered by the fact of not having proper communication, which, when done correctly, makes her a whole different beast.

Don't expect Orianna to change anytime soon. She's in a perfect position, I would say.

Her waveclear is below average compared to most mages.

Personally I think she's really bad against Velkoz Ziggs Xerath because she has to move in closer than them to be able to land any damage but those 3 also have better waveclear than she does so there is never really an opportunity for her to trade. She will just get beaten up by minions. I think this is about as close you can get to counterpicking her because while her trades are pretty strong she can't really use that strength in these matchups.

I think she's still a safe pick into any matchup including her "bad" ones because she will be able to get decent CS and survive and then bring a ridiculous amount of utility to the table for her team. At the same time she's usually not the best possible pick unless she's picked in a team comp that has high synergy with her ult. However she's definitely a champ you could one-trick and never have to learn any other champ.
