Ok, so this is fairly well-known over at r/ekkomains, but I thought I'd share it here, if only to dilute the whinny topics in Gameplay.

Since 6.22 and the changes to minion health and the extra 10% AP ratio on Ekko Q, with the right setup Ekko can kill the backline minions of the first two waves with only two Q CDs, hitting both times on each cast. Taking full advantage of this means standing near the enemy's turret as the wave comes to get the first Q off, running back, and Qing again as soon as its off CD. No champ in the game can match this waveclear at this point in the game, forcing your opponent to either tank a full wave or try to CS under turret at level 1. You can continue to do this for most of lane phase, looking to invade with your jungler in the time between waves.

In addition to a standard mid Ekko setup (AP quints, Sorcery, Natural Talent, Dorans Ring/Dark Seal) you will need an extra 8 flat AP glyphs and the double-edged sword mastery. Not taking double-edged sword but using 9 flat AP glyphs is insufficient.

If you really want to min-max, hitting level 2 before Qing the 2nd wave at all will give you enough AP from natural talent to kill backline in 2 Qs with only 7 flat AP glyphs, but this kinda defeats the purpose of the strategy since you won't be level 2 off the first wave alone.

Easiest way to counter this is to pick a champ who can fight Ekko level 1. Cassio in particular is very good at this, as she can just run him down with E's and DFT.
