Can we look at combat style and itemization?
I want to address two things that pertain to Combat Style in gameplay, as far as itemization.
First I understand the overhaul it would take to re-visualize items that don't actually apply to a champion's combat style. Rammus can use Recurve Bow, and Ashe can use Phage. However, some of these items function in a way that should be exclusive to a certain combat style. Black Cleaver, for example, provides an overwhelming offense for ranged champions: especially when they already have an item specific to the same purpose: Giant Slayer. And there are other items as well, this is just an example for my first point.
Second All champions are either ranged or melee, with the exception of champions that can alternate between the two like Jayce or Kayle. But to place champions in either "ranged" or "melee" makes itemization kind of awkward. Veigar and Thresh both have access to Runaan's Hurricane. Neither champ should focus on building up their basic attack- but the effects of Runaan's Hurricane seem strangely applied.
What are your thoughts?
