Who's a good, hard, and fun mid laner to main?
I used to main

and 
I really enjoyed Lux and Karthus so maybe something similar? I like ranged champions that are fun and strong late game.

life is pain. Show the enemy how much it hurts. Plus you can play support, apc, and mid.

sure is hard to play at the begining but once you learn her is disgusting and has a strong late.
Ap kog, similar to lux just longer range more damage mid late game just no cc.

Akali, Lux, Talon, Pantheon, and a wildcard like Irelia or an ADC.
AP and AD assassins, AP ranged caster with cc, AD semi-ranged caster/assassin with CC, and something to fill any gap.
With this, you also have a top laner and a bot laner too. You can replace Talon with Pyke if you're good with him mid, and you not only have an AD assassin but a support too!

is one of the best late game champs, and I really love her play style.
is another favourite of mine for his insane late game. Going 
makes you one of the deadliest and most mobile champions, to the point where you simply shouldn't die at all.
There may be some other strong late game champs for mid, but, imo, they don't compare to these two.
Syndra? Has the balls similar to karthus q but also has some cc and high damage. Plus, a decently high skill ceiling with her combos. Orianna could be another option, q is spammy and she has good area control with her sphere and w. Plus a shield

Late game is massively potent with his ult increasing damage from ALL sources(So your teammates do more damage to whoever is hit by your ult)
No mana, really good level 2-3 cheese with electrocute

is en enjoyable one. Plenty of skill expression and places to perfect given he's 100% skill shots. He has an awsome AA animation for last hits.
Only downside is his E is a little slow for the assassin meta we're in so unlike prior seasons (season 5t and prior) you have far less out play potential.
You could try taking a juggernaut/diver mid. Vi, Kled, yorick and renekton are all strong atm. And can catch many assassins/mages off guard.
Play cancer
Has really strong mid game and pretty decent late game, he suffers early game though agaisnt anything that has either good wave clear or is a lane bully.. Actually he loses every matchup. But he's really fun, does massive dmg and can decide teamfights with a single button (Event Horizon).
