Ancient Coin is still a less optimal pick than Spellthief's Edge even on its prime users

Even with some slight buffs, Spellthief's Edge is a dominant pick on champions associated with using Ancient Coin for their gold generation. Stats below are taken from the site lolalytics.com.

Soraka Spellthief's Edge: 51,88% wirnate, 78,56% pickrate Ancient Coin: 48,95% winrate, 23,07% pickrate

Janna Spellthief's Edge: 54,21% wirnate, 84,55% pickrate Ancient Coin: 51,29% winrate, 17,73% pickrate

Rakan Spellthief's Edge: 51,96% wirnate,65,48%% pickrate Ancient Coin: 48,63% winrate, 40,64% pickrate

Lulu Spellthief's Edge: 50,60% wirnate, 91,08% pickrate Ancient Coin: 48,39% winrate, 8,97% pickrate

Ancient Coin really needs some buffs or Spellthief's Edge needs nerfs because even if prime users of Coin have higher winrates alongside higher pickrates when using Spellthief's Edge something is not right with the balance of support items right now. What do you think?

The numbers I saw recently said coin earns about half the gold of an optimally played spellthief.

Spellthief will always be better for people who can consistently harass in lane. Coin is for people who don't think they can harass effectively.

However, there may be a problem in the sense that maybe coin is not that much better compared with a spellthief that never hits a target. Spellthief gives you more stats you actually want as a mage support, so it seems like a better buy even if you aren't harassing well.

Ye and i mean u can choose More ap or More gold thats why i think they are both on good spot and if they gonna nerf gold on coin it will be useless, same if they nerf ap on spellthif it will be useless

umm relic shield is the weakest gold gain by far now due to the nerf from 4 per 10 sec back to 1 per 10 sec, thats less then the other 2 as well as good luck getting procs outside of lane phase
