Team, Only One Person Needs To Stop The Split Pusher

Im sure all of you have been in this situation one time or another. Five grouped trying to push mid against the enemy team and you notice an enemy, usually the top lane or jungler, splitting a side line about to hit a turret. There are a few outcomes that normally happen.

  1. Two or Three people split off to try and cut off the enemy split pusher. Usually the enemy team indicates that you are missing, initiate on the two members that are alone, and end up taking more towers. One kill is not worth a turret.

  2. Nobody leaves until the enemy split pusher reaches a turret. Then all members respond. Like the previous outcome, the area you walk through is most likely warded and the enemies will indicate you leaving. Either A: The enemy team may try to collapse on you or B: While the split pusher attacks the turret or attempts to flee, his teamates shove another lane. This puts you in a very bad decision because you will most likely lose a turret regardless, if you split apart you put your team at a disadvantage if engaged upon.

  3. Your team engages. This is probably the best response to seeing an enemy split pusher. It's an obvious 4v5 and if you are in the position to, you engage. This should be an all out fight because if you do not get an objective it is a bad trade. Most likely by the time the fight is over the enemy split pusher will be on the turret and it probably is below 50% health. It will always be a bad trade if you can not trade objectives. Best case scenario is a clean 4 kills and a shove of as many objectives as possible.

  4. As the title states it's fine to send only one person. Obviously if you are behind the split pusher will most likely be the strongest enemy and it will be difficult to shove them off the objective. If behind it is probably best to resort to option 3. Sending one will most likely end up getting that member of your team killed and the loss of objectives. Then the rest of the team will have to respond and it is a 5v4 for the enemies. If even or ahead send your strongest, and then have the other 4 attempt to siege. If ahead you most likely want to be the ones splitting, or engaging whenever possible.

This has been a huge problem in the past. Even when ahead some teams just don't know how to react to a split pusher. It turns into a constant battle of decisions and you need to work together to make the best decision depending on the current situation. Think fast and waste the least amount of time to make sure you don't lose to much.
