To the RitoOverlords, Why not balance using different functions for scalings?
Look up the scalings for champions you'll see that all of them have ratios like 0.002, 0.7, 3.0 etc. and it means that for whatever amount of that stat you have you get that ratio back for damage or what have you. Now these ratios are linear, these are very easy to understand as always get a specific amount back but I'm suggesting using exponential and logarithmic functions for balance.
Logarithmic would very easily gate people from building one specific stat on a champ, for example having an ap scaling give you a good amount with a little ap but absolute crap when building into it (so we don't have ap yi again), this could also work for those pesky supports that do way too damage when building ap.
Exponential on certain champs can mean with alot of one specific stat can be effective with that stat, so if you want AP Yi you're gonna have to build the rylais, ludens, and deathcap before you start being effective, this also can easily gate adcs from being strong early game so the poor top laners can stop dealing with the lucian and friends that show up there.
Expected problems: 1. Logarithmic and exponential are really hard to understand what you'll be getting out them. When looking at the scaling damage in the tooltip will be certainly wonky with crazy 45.3784909 and Newbs will most certainly be confused why building all this AD on talon gives them so much damage next to building AD on an exponential adc where the effects aren't immediate.
Solution, All-Encompassing Algebra In the lovely new upcoming client you should give us the scalings and their functions to read up on. While in game seeing "Blind man roundhouse kicks for 300(+.02e) spirit damage" would mean something like damage = exp(.02*stat) or "Sona rapidly slams her floating string board for 200(+60L) music damage" would mean damage = 60log(x).
2. The math will churn the ancient spaghetti and the game engine will be shackled with a recurring pass for the strugglebus.
Solution, Current Carbs: I'd imagine its not beyond technology to support math that most calculators can do.
3. Why are these scaling changes needed? Balance is much more focused on kits than on individual abilities.
Solution, Simpler Gates More Jank: I just want more tools for rito to work with and put strange exponential scalings on champs and so I can take ap sejuani mid and not feel terrible.

You rito people could also give negative quadratic and cubic scalings for absolute jank.
