why is dodging not allowed in promos?

seems counter intuitive, those are the games that matter most and when u get dicks in champ select or you just know something is not gonna work out, you shouldn't need to lose a game in promos for it.

  • People bring up the fact that people will dodge vs an unfavorable matchup, and I understand this is a possibility. To stop this, you could make it so you cannot dodge after everyone has locked in their pick, or maybe even after FP is locked. Or you could just make it so that dodging 2 times in a row will give you a loss instead of just one dodge = 1 loss.

The promo system in general is counter intuitive, rather then reward your overall performance like the Elo system did it now rewards you based on your performance for 3 specific games, rather then make all matches important it makes these 3-5 matches be the most important ones

Should just get rid of promos, its stressful and winning just makes you feel relief

Because riot thinks you shouldn't be able to dodge the BS you normally dodge while you are in promos.

You should honestly get free dodges or a vote to disband lobby function. It's not fair when 1 person holds 4 people hostage in a lobby.

Because there is no point in dodging in your promos, matchmaking WILL fuck you over every single promo game. Its designed to do exactly that. Look at the forums, every week or so there is someone in diamond complaining getting an unranked newly lvl 30, or bronze V on a 10 game losing streak in their promo, or 3 silvers, or some such combination that should never happen.

''oh their team comp is better, better dodge''

that's why, if you could dodge with no repercussions people would dodge if the enemy their team comp is better

The reason is probably because besides the wait timer there is no penalty for dodging otherwise, since you can't lose LP while in promos.

I'd rather they match up people who are in promos together instead of the bottom of the barrel scum that show up on yoir team in promos like a dead weight holding you back from victory.

Its not really counter intuitive, but the automatic loss is a little overkill and i would like to see an alternate lighter punishment

{quoted}

those are the games that matter most

That is exactly why.

No one is going to say that getting assholes in champion select is acceptable. No one is going to say it's not even worse during promos. However, those occurrences compared to the occurrences of people who would dodge to avoid an unwanted role, a bad matchup, or just a generally weaker team compared to the enemy team are rare. On average, people being assholes in your games is going to even out; you'll get games where the assholes are on your team and where they're on the enemy team. Being allowed to dodge would, I suppose, yield the same result, but with an extremely increased wait time to actually get into a game.

promos its was good idea before but now its very bad and rly have a negative effect on rank games in general esp with no dodge policy

i would still dodge in promos, rather take the lost that doesn't mess with my mmr than waste time playing that game i knew i will lose and lose mmr along with it too.

I doubt this is the main reason, but I think it contributes:

Riot believes that dodging is never good (I agree that it's bad 98% of the time). So there should always be an incentive to not dodge. Because people are more determined to win when they enter promos, they are more likely to dodge to try and gain an edge, so the disincentive has to be larger in promos to have an effect.

On top of that the usual -3 LP cost is irrelevant if you make it through promos, so keeping that or raising it to -10 or whatever wouldn't work to dissuade anyone who expects to beat their promos (everyone). (And it's unclear when you lose LP in promos, in any case.)

It's because if you dodge, you would have lost the game anyway. A dodge counts as a loss in your promos so that people can't dodge every time champ select doesn't go their way, and avoid playing unfavorable matchups.

"Anyone autofilled?"

"yeah"

"okay bye"

underscores22210/22/2017, 4:50:43 PM1 votes

You aren't "allowed" to dodge in any game. The punishment is the same in promos or out - essentially taking a loss and the LP hit associated with it/an X in promos.
