From 5 games to 85, one rank achieved

Is it just me, or does it seem that at lower ranking its nearly impossible, and I mean IMPOSSIBLE, to go anywhere on the rank ladder? I've been through 85 some odd games now and I've only raised one rank. Every time I load up a game I come in with the thought of "This time its going to be different" but nope, always stuck with either a team member who has given 7 kills at 10 minutes, or one teamfight goes bad, new minions with their increased strength for each tower down basically bulldoze any opposition, or a random powerhouse comes in and basically plows through anything making the game unwinnable at 10 minutes in. I'm getting increasingly discouraged with the quality of the matchups in ranked, I play safe when matched up against a counter and generally keep my lane in check. Then after focusing on my lane and making sure the opponent doesn't go anywhere or get too ahead, I realize that its 25/2 with my team being the 2. I'm just baffled by how this happens time and time again, there is no stopping it. I told myself at the top of the season when shoved down to Bronze 4 from Silver 4 that I would work my hardest to achieve gold this year. I have little faith in that goal anymore, especially when looking through the lower leagues and seeing some who have played a lot more games than I have and are still in Bronze.

More of a rant than an actual discussion, anyone else feel this way or am I just unlucky?
