Are league games lacking variety?

So I have been playing league a while now and one of the main things that i love about it is the variety of champs. Every game I vs different champs with different play styles and different abilities. And that for me is one of the main selling points! However recently I never really see any variety at all ? Is it just me?

All i see top is Fiora (before nerf) Malphite, Pantheon, Poppy, Darius

mid is Lux or Ahri 90 % of the time and the other 10 is Zed and Anivia

Jungle is Shyvana, Xin, Yi, Vi, Udyr

Adc is always - Lucian or Ezreal.

Support is actually quite varied in my opinion but seriously this season is so annoying. I'm so sick of playing against lux that just sit under tower the whole game and then one hit me with her ult late game! I just want some more variety again! Maybe its because some champs are so much better than others? Like why would I use Rumble top now when I can just use Malphite and still one hit people when building full tank?

Maybe its just my elo so I cant speak for everyone but this season is defiantly the most dullest.

Here s to hoping the mid year mage update sorts it !

More like if Zed not banned 120% pickrate. Lux is also every game if NOT zed. That's what i have in gold elo, i don't know about other elos. Lucian I agree. Every single game. There are other more powerful options tho, but noone really tries them out. Twitch is in my opinion the BEST lategame teamfight champion. It's also fun to assasinate the enemy adc in mid-late game. Also Jhin is pretty popular. I agree in the jungle. On top of that I've noticed lots of zac's.

  • There is little variety because people like some champions more than others. Most champions are viable in my opinion, but many of them need team coordonation, etc. Best champions ever and most popular: Aatrox top, Skarner jungle, Mordekaiser bot, Urgot ADC, Karthus mid.

Playing ranked I agree. In ranked there isn't much variety but that's because everyone is playing the best champions at the moment and limiting themselves to those champions. In normals I see a pretty big variety of champions. People are less, shall we say scared, to play a champion that's not perceived as powerful.
