Is role of support taken into consideration when placing for ranked? (KDA Wise)

EDIT: Solved in comments real quick, real simple misunderstanding. Thanks yall I main support when playing ranked, and play supports like Thresh , Lulu Leona , and others at times. It is already known that your placements arent only about winning, but also your kda and such. Because of this, I'm curious as to if the fact that you're playing support is taken into consideration. When playing support, your goal is to have little kills and as many assists as you can. In my last couple games, I've had kdas like 5/7/12 or something along those lines. My ADC Varus , if the game goes well, has a rather positive kda. My question is, since supports focus more on assists and not kills or cs, does the placement system focus on flat KDA or champion grade (D, C, B, A, S)?

This may sound dumb but im a little concerned, thanks! [slayer-jinx-catface]

Follow up question: I've heard you cant progress past your rank last season in placements, and I finished season 7 at Silver 5. Does this mean i'll end up in bronze no matter what? [sg-janna]

KDA means nothing when it comes to your rank and MMR. The only thing you need to worry about is your long time W/L ratio.

Not sure who told you that your placements depend on your KDA but they don't. They mostly depend on your MMR which is factored by your win/loss ratio and taking into account the combined MMR of the team you won/lost against. Supports don't get penalized anymore than high kill champions like assassins gain advantages.

KDA has nothing to do with your placement. Your score might have a small variation on it, but it's a small one.

The biggest two factors are how many you win, and what your previous season's MMR was. Everything else is going to be used primarily in tie-breaker instances.

Chances are high you'll end up in Bronze. As someone who can only land in Bronze, stay positive: It means the trolls have no power over you.

While I'm not competitive enough to know or care about how it effects your placements, I do know that things like vision score also affects your grade. My most recent win as a support was in a 30 minute game, my KDA was 2/2/7, which doesn't sound that good, but my 77 vision score probably helped. It's important to make full use of your wards.
