Champion.gg - Irelia Top Stats, Builds, Runes, Masteries and Counters

Hello everyone, been playing since Season II and never really had much higher than Plat. That been said i want to talk about the New Irelia and the Hard Nerf they did to her after the release. I was a Main Irelia Player back in the days and really liked her kit even if very simple. Now i played some games with her trying to learn her again. Even thought i played with ppl less experienced than me in lane and even tho i start every trade in top succesfully i can't happen to win one. I don't know if there is a lack of sustain or whatever in her kit ( maybe Q is not enough sustain). It feels like more than a mid laner champ than a top lane to me. She can't fight other bruisers 1 v 1 if not with an outplaying play and even tho sometimes is not enough. Surely she has an high learning curve and i don't know how to use her full potential but still my impressions remain. Any tought ? am i missing something ?Irelia

What have they done to her? Have you ever laned against her as an immobile mage? They made her fucking OP is what they did to her.

Hi gonna give some actual feedback here I currently main Irelia and do pretty well. Some match-ups are extremely hard for her, Jax / Tryndamere /Camille / Poppy (OMG SO HARD TO FIGHT IMO) / Darius / Garen. Others are okay. You never want to fight someone until all of your stacks are up (passive) and you always want to make sure you have a reset on your Q by catching them with the E. Shes not really much of an auto attacker anymore, but having your passive stacked helps with bonus magic damage and shreds shields. Try to kite around people that have stuns or slows ( Jax / Nasus) by Q'ing to low health minions and re engaging later. She's all about movement and striking quickly and back out. Your ult can be an engage or a third reset to the Q. If they walk pass it they are disarmed which gives you a free chance to auto and harass. Currently i think she can be buffed a little more BUT she does pretty okay right now. Irelia Is very fun for me though! :)

Long story short - they nerfed her extremely hard to prevent her dominance in midlane and have been watching her carefully & giving power back ever since. Her scalings are still meh and I do think she could theoretically use more love for her mid-late game but it's up to Riot in terms of how they want to handle her.

When you can play her though she still does well, it's only that she's probably a little weaker than she should be.

From the looks of it, the rework kinda flopped in that it made her difficult to balance, and not entirely healthy to play against. A few notable Irelia mains, including IreliaCarriesU, noted that the problem comes from her mark mechanic, which allows for a few too many dash resets (which itself has become the central component to her reworked kit). Personally, I think it hasn't helped that she was not balanced in the best way following her rework, as her problem comes from an excessive amount of damage on her abilities and too much reliance on dash resets, which balance work only worsened over time, at the cost of her autoattacking. I think her kit is fine in its broad lines now, but needs some adjustments, mainly so that there's more of an emphasis on sustained fighting through attacking, rather than trying to burst people down with her abilities.

Honestly Irelia was friggin broken upon her rework. They've nerfed her to be more in-line now, but when they first reworked her she was god tier for like ever.
