Partly true. But a mix of playrate and winrate easily determines strength.
For example:
Anivia has a 53% winrate but you see her in only 2.2% of games.
Ziggs has a 53% winrate but you see him in over 10% of all games. 10% is quite alot for a game with over 130 champions.
Vi has a 53% winrate and you see him her in over 15% of games.
Ahri has a 53% winrate and you see her in over 14% of games
I agree, winrates isn't everything. But when a champion has such a high playrate and also maintains a winrate of 53% there MUST be something wrong.
winrates mean nothing, they are unprocessed data. A high winrate with a high playrate also doesn't actually say something, it is an indicator that there is something worth looking at. But you must look at it before you say anything, that is just the indicator that there could be not the sign that something absolutely is. To say that a 53% winrate and 14% playrate means something is like seeing a man with a robber mask running away with a purse and automatically shooting him because he was "obviously a robber."... or maybe his bike broke down and he had to deliver his mother's new purse and hurry back to the shop. They wear those under the helmet sometimes did you know? You just shot a public servant perhaps.
