Is Caitlyn's Ult outdated ?

Hello everyone. Why do we play Caitlyn: I guess her passive/w/e combo is the main reason, the ult is considered as a finisher and even so, not making such tremendous damage. As for this "sniper" part, players tend to prefer to pick jhin to fulfill this kind of play.

So why wouldn't riot have a think about renewing caitlyn's ult ? Here's a suggestion: Caitlyn could get access to a long lined range skillshot (just as jhin , jinx or ashe) but with a casting time (maybe a little reduction from the actual one ? ) but with more damage (Infinity edge would increase damage of course)

But this needs something more or it would be just another jhin ult: there are 2 possibilites:

To give access to shoot squishy targets hidden behind frontlines, her ulti could go through one target and then second could get hit but with reduced damaged obviously .
Just like kalista's Q property: the ability could go through if it kills the initial target

What do you guys think about it ? Feel free to share your thoughts, I'll be pleased to hear your point of view.

yeah i agree. her ult is basically an auto attack with extra range. the only problem riot has with it is how do you change it to make it unique? you said just to renew it, but in reality, it should just get reworked. it's such a basic ult and gives no cc to the team. all i know is that the new ult should have high range and high base damage excluding crit. but then again, that would bring her back into the meta.

Her crappy ult is the price of her raw power. If they were to change her ult, I would expect them to nerf her across the board inorder to compensate.

Maybe, make it pierce through the targets that block it. But deals drasticly reduced damage per champion pierced.

I disagree with people who say her ult is crappy. Her ult can be used in many different ways. A finisher or even before a teamfight to keep a target lower in health or even for true vision on someone. Her ult doesn't need changed.

Imagine if cait's ult would pierce champions and damage them. They could leave the damage lowish as it is and make it fall off after each champion hit, but it would be a lot more interesting. Especially if they make the bullet unstoppable, meaning it should ignore stuff like windwall or spell shield, because she is a master sniper. Jhin is a maniac who happens to be using a modular sniper rifle ... sometimes, but Cait ... she should be the TRUE SNIPER who always hits the target! If another champion walks into the line of fire then this was calculated by Cait to begin with, she's got it all planned!

Or they also could give another unique effect to the ult... like the bullet cripples her target, reducing attack speed, ability damage and movement speed or something like that.

I have a suggestion. Why not remove the line-of-sight that indicates what direction the Ultimate is coming from?

Counter-play options include warding the map and surrounding the target (punishes players who don't use wards or don't stay near their team). It fits Caitlyn's theme of being a Sniper.

Skilled players will utilize this new feature and attempt to outposition the enemy to snipe the backlines.

I can see where this is coming from, but the truth is that it has its own strengths. For one, it can't miss. It doesn't matter where the target goes, Caitlyn will track it through anything and will hit her mark (unless blocked or interrupted). You also need to only have vision on the target long enough to point and click. Pull that off, the target can run away, cloak, hide in the bushes, or whatever and it won't help them at all (this can make it so TF and Cait work well together. He ults and she snipes otherwise untargetable champions). Although I do like your thinking.

I would love to see this ultimate updated in some way. Right now if I wanted a true sniper feel I'd just play Jhin because his ult feels so god damn amazing to use. Caitlyn's is just there and it doesn't capture the feeling I want out of it.
