You should have to have at least Mastery Level 2 with a champ to use them in Ranked

Riot should implement you having to have at least Mastery Level 2 with a champ to use them in Ranked at a bare minimum. I think a lot of people use champs they have not used at all simply because they are the "op champ". I think by doing this you will ensure that someone using a champ has at least some experience beyond watching a youtube highlight clip. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

If you studied long enough you don't even need a level 2 champion mastery to be decent

It's about learning what you can and cannot do with the champion

Eh, most people should be going for comfort picks over counter picks (just as long as you know you won't get destroyed), but uh, this really won't make things that better and waste other peoples' time at the most.

Well I have some champions that I would play in ranked that I don't have mastery on, not because I don't play them but because I just don't have mastery on them. I either played them plenty before the mastery mechanic came out, or I play them in ARAM. There is also the fact that you are asking people to play 300+games of normals before they have the entire champion pool available for ranked.

Champion Mastery isn't everything. Doing good with a champion takes experience, knowing their playstyle, (and here's the kicker) even having them 'synergize' with YOUR mentality.

For instance: I'm bad at Yasuo. I have Level 5 Mastery with Yasuo; I understand his mechanics; know his combos; know when to time my Qs; have quick reflexes for my WIndwall; but all of that doesn't matter because I am bad at Yasuo. His playstyle, and the type of champion that he is ( AD Caster Carry, I think), doesn't "click" with me, specifically.

I'm good at Gnar, though. I was able to pick up Gnar and start at around a 50% skill cap with him, because the type of champion that he is (kiting bruiser) 'clicked' with me.

If you don't have experience with a champion outside of ranked I don't think you should be able to use them for the first time. For cases where you used the champ before the mastery system came out then riot should get the games played data and apply it to your champs. Mastery rank 2 is only 2-3 games played with a champ. I don't think its unreasonable to expect someone has used the champ 2-3 times before they use them in Ranked. Do you honestly use 100+ different champs in ranked? I feel like Ranked should be taken serious and people should use the champs they are best with or have a track record of at least using them in 5v5 prior to using them in Ranked. In my opinion its unfair to use ranked games as a testing ground for a champ you think is op that week if you have literally never even played 2-3 games on that champ. If Riot could apply past games to the mastery system to reflect your actual experience with your champion pool, what else makes you think this idea is bad/good ? Thanks for the feedback

No. I can pick a champ for the first time in rank and be good with him. How? I read guides, i look at videos. So hell no.

I need heroes i don't usually pick for the counter pick or team pick when he time is right.
