You know what I finally realized

Riot basically killed invades last season. Why? Because 95% of junglers start Krugs or Gromp. And they are much safer than Blue and Red. And that was one of the keys to shutting down people with good late games. I wonder why late game champs became such a rather big problem last season? Oh yeah, because everyone is now starting the safest camps which happen to often be the best camps for clearing jungle. Making it very easy to set up to defend a jungler when they go to take a buff also choking out counter jungling. Why are the new starting camps safer? It takes about 5s less to get to tower and you can more easily see the enemy entering your jungle from these camps as well as hide easier while getting the leash.

So how do we fix this? Make blue and red the more important buffs again so you have to choose safety or value. It's was very valid counter play to champs that have very good potential against champs but lacked jungle safety. Now it's so safe, most people aren't afraid of invades anymore, they are more concerned about someone sitting at their second buff (which was also common back then).

Invades were massive amount of counter play to shutting people like MasterYi, MonkeyKing, Udyr, Rengar, Maokai, Amumu, and Fiddlesticks down. You deny them their spikes by delaying them by taking key buffs, but it's way harder to do that now.
