What if all champions were free from the start?

I remember when I first started playing LoL and noticing how there were only about 10 characters that I could start playing for free right from the get-go. I showed this to a bunch of my friends who played DoTA (where all heroes are free to play from the start) and they all seemed to agree that the idea of only being able to immediately play 10 characters out of a pool of 100+ seemed both absurd and restrictive. This is back in S3, mind you, and even now I personally don't really mind that I have to pay ip to play champs because I already own 3/4 of the cast.

Besides all of that, imagine if all of the champions in LoL were free tomorrow. How would this make you feel? Do you think this would have a positive or negative effect on LoL gameplay and why?

Ehh, I like the progression of low tier champs to higher tier ones simply because of the mechanical and general knowledge that the low tier champs teach and the high tier champs require.

Like, a new player to try to play a mechanically challenging champ like Zed or Yasuo while the opponent has a simpler and probably stronger champ for that skill level like Ryze.

Considering that even S2 had the courtesy to unlock everyone for free for HoN's playerbase, I don't see why not.

Maybe Riot is just paranoid that no one will have meaningful choices to spend IP on.

It's simple, rito gets more money by locking the champions. Nothing more nthing less.

I have over 123,000 IP and see no reason why they need to remove IP prices on champions. You get enough IP as it is.
