I'm going to take a moment to gloat, because I've had to sit here and listen to all of the salt about how "Anivia is dead" and "Good riddance" or "I can't play my favorite champ anymore" coming from both haters, and casual Anivia players alike, when the reality of the situation is--for anyone who knows what they're doing when it comes to playing the Cryophoenix, knows that this update does increase her skill cap, but makes her a far stronger champion overall.

_Please note that this post isn't to say that she is now unbalanced, but rather that everyone saying "she's dead" are wrong. Anivia is in a much better state now, and her burst window has been increased across the board by at least 1.5 seconds. (For those of you who can't be bothered with the details: R+E insta-chunking is no longer a thing, so you can thank Riot for that.) Read the summary at the end of this post as I'll touch on this a bit further. _

Comments like "Anivia is dead" and "She deserves more nerfs" just because you're bad and don't know how to play against her (not talking about R+E, I agree that was dumb) are a direct threat to the way I play and enjoy the game.

So let the hate reign in, to all of you who hate Anivia, and want to punish the 0.0046% of League players who main her with nerfs just because the 1 in 100 games you play as Yasuo or Syndra, you find an Anivia main who can actually contest your toxic champions.

"Bye, Anivia. You won't be missed." They said. Little did they know that even though her instant no skill R+E combo is not not even worth casting, everything else about her has been buffed and is now better than ever, allowing an experienced Anivia player to focus on positioning, team play, and fully securing kills rather than quick R+E bursts that may or may not positively secure a kill. Sorry Anivia haters, she's stronger than ever and I'm going to deeply, deeply, passionately enjoy smacking you around while watching my win rate rise. I don't know why you hate on the chicken so much, given that out of the 46% of summoners that own Anivia, only 1.8% of those have mastery 7 with her. Which means 0.0046% of players frequently play the champion. On top of this, Riot, and high elo players agree that though her kit may seem simple, she is a high skill cap champion. Especially more so after the most recent update, forcing players to focus on landing skill shots, and locking down kills with R+Q+W+E. You may have been able to escape with 30 HP before, but there's no getting away from the 6.23 Ice Chicken.

Toxic champions like Yasuo, Syndra, and Orianna should all arguably be dealt with first by priority, given the fact that Yasuo for example has consistently seen play rates of 25-35%, ban rates up to 70%, and win rates up to 58%. You all just don't want to talk about that because the only champions that can consistently hold a fight with these champions are champions like Anivia, Viktor, Cassiopeia, etc. (Which all have what in common? You guessed it! High skill caps, and low play rates!)

There is no "Bye Anivia" After the 6.9 Updates, everyone said that was the end of Anivia (when they initially changed her ultimate) and then in 6.19 after the recent E nerfs, they said she was done, and now with this update, you say the same. The constant in the equation is: every update, every nerf, every time she's "dead" Anivia mains like myself are still kicking ass. Ice Chicken & every other Anivia main that's gonna kick your ass in lane until Anivia inevitably catches more nerfs (even though she doesn't deserve them and this is a direct insult to the quality of life of the 0.0046% of league players that main Anivia) even though Annie for example has a much faster burst window, much lower skill cap, and a much higher win rate, but that's another rant for another update.

Summary:

Anivia's instaburst is gone, and we'll likely see a huge drop in win rate due to the fact that the vast majority of players that depended on the R+E instaburst will no longer be able to keep up with the new skill cap adds. This update will come as a nerf to most, and an improvement/buff to others. Anivia is overall a stronger champion now in my opinion in the hands of a main or one trick. The update will force players to focus on landing the Q skill shot, and using all of her kit (R+Q+W+E) to secure kills, requiring better positioning, and timing by the player. However I think this will mean more secured kills, and better team play/fights.

People are gonna hate her even more if she gets pushed to top lane with all the other ranged champions. Just had to play against a top lane anivia.

Anivia main here. Although I have experienced a surprisingly higher number of wins than I expected after this patch, I can't help but thinking while I am reading your article that its just a bunch of ego stroking. Anivia is weaker... BY A LOT, period her R + E combo was strong no doubt and I agree removing it will weed out a lot of the occasional anivia players but you cant possibly say she is stronger because they removed that and decreased the cooldown on her wall lol Lets put aside the fact that her in addition to her mega zoning spell kit, fear of her R+E combo was one of the most powerful zoning tools she had in team fights, what is more is that now she has a whole host of new hard counters in lane (ie majority of assassins). Champs that she used to have a slight edge against like zed, now completely dumpster her in lane because she has no way of trading with them. Same will go for LB and probably kat, all the champs that can get in and get out quickly, no R+E? no trade. This is without a doubt the biggest nerf this champ has ever experienced, by a lot. The ego stroking is real

Anivia is really toxic against all the melee champions, while being weak to high mobility and long range. I can't see how this is fair champion.
