This is meant to be a very general question. Obviously, the situation always matters more than anything else, which ADC you're playing, counter picking, filling team needs, etc, but, in general, what support do you like having with you most?
P.S: Since polls can only have 10 entries I tried to divide up the supports into categories to the best of my ability/understanding.

Thresh, Maokai, Rakan and Malphite. I like those lvl 6 engages for Miss Fortune. 😉
I like supports that are so braindead easy that the morons I typically get when I queue can't possibly mess up. Leona, Alistar, Naut, etc.
I play Jinx and the reason I like mages like morgana or zyra is that they are squishy like me and have to keep distance, while being threatening to enemy bot lane with their cc and damage. They won't just dive in and expect me to destroy everyone with an early game Jinx (and then flame because we died to enemy Draven or Lucian). I like to play safe in lane because Jinx's attack speed is extremely low in early game, and if we go all in when we shouldn't, I don't have any escapes so we're screwed. Obviously Blitz is also great because he pulls the enemies to us and doesn't have to dive in himself, and tanks who can peel are more useful in late game, but in lane I really love that cc mage. Sue me.
The one that builds Sightstone, knows how to build their champion, will buy Locket and not Sunfire as a tank, will rush Ardent as a healer, buys Redemption as an enchanter and not as a tank, and provides lane pressure and peel.
Basically does their job.
A good ali, by far one of the best. Its why he's one of my go to supports. Kill pressure, peel, and tank. Stronk. Depends on my adc as well. If im twitch, i just want whatever is gunna get me through laning phase and keep me alive late game the best. Where Caitlin might want a more aggressive poke support to pair with lane harass, and Lucian wants a kill support.
when i play adc i hate supports who are mages trying to be supports

Don't care about the champion, care about the willingness to put themselves in harms way to protect me and my ability to farm. If they won't use their autoattacks/abilities to keep the enemy support from harassing me every time I go to farm, they're trash. Including positioning to ensure they can do that and not some random useless 1000 units away that's safe for only them.

I find it fascinating that there has not been a single vote for poke supports yet. I wonder why.
Just a small comment regarding the poll. IMHO supports that are listed as poke fit the utillity category better (thats how ive been calling them) because mages do the poking way more than the "pokers"

i like cho support. not only is his q VERY STRONG if you land it, but the guy turns into the teams free minion wave to push turrets lategame if hes properly ksing Kappa

I dont main ADC but the best is when you get a Thresh who successfully flays every single incoming Lee Q, J4 R, etc
You don't have a no preference option, I honestly don't care on the support, so long as you know what you're doing. You can take my kills, but help me keep track of lane and don't steal my cs.
I don't main ADC but I like it when I have a mage support. It makes me feel safer knowing my enemies are getting blasted by my support, and I don't have to feel terrible for making my support heal me every time I eat a skillshot or an auto attack. I just feel so much shame whenever my support heals me, like "Ahh I messed up and now you have less mana because of my mistake, you probably think I'm a terrible ADC for getting hit so much." With mage supports, they don't even have to depend on their adc, they can function on their own. When I mess up I die, but I don't feel like I'm bringing my support down as much because my support is able to do tons of damage without me.
I don't main adc but I very much prefer Tanks, because I play adc like a bitttchhhhh and play farm simulator 2017. Tank Supports tend to allow me to do that with relative safety
While a lot of ADC seem to hate it, I actually like mage supports. There's nothing like steamrolling the lane from the get go, and funny in a sense when Brand goes 7/2 by 15 minutes.
All the "hooks" are also tanks so I vote for both. Anything thats not a tank is useless.
