Dear Entitled Mid-laners,

Dear Entitled Mid-laners, Please ask for the blue buff instead of demanding it by pinging it as you head towards it. Even if your score is 100/0 it is still proper etiquette to ask. Though it may sometimes be a in-general bad idea for me as the jungler to take the buff over you, like when I'm playing Zac, demanding blue automatically makes me not want to give it to you. However, if you just ask, then I'm very unlikely to decline. Also, though I know not every mid-laner who demands blue buff does this, I must address it as well... when you throw a tantrum and begin stealing my jung just to spite me because I didn't fulfill your demand for blue buff because you were being rude and entitled, it proves my point further, and again, makes me want to give you blue buffs in the future even less.

Signed, A low-elo jungler

I have 2 situations that I hate:

  1. I'm playing a manaless or low mana jungler Shyvana LeeSin MasterYi and they take their sweet time getting to blue, and then allow the enemy to collapse or push tower.

  2. I'm playing a highly mana intensive jungler Malphite Amumu Fiddlesticks ) and they try to take blue from me.

My main role is jungle and my secondary role is mid.

Frankly, I find this to be a "problem" with a rather simple solution.

If the mid-laner pings that they are on their way while doing the buff, you simply yellow ping the buff to indicate you are taking it. If the try to force the issue, you can smite it if need be.

Considering I'm generally a selfish jungler when it comes to Blue Buff, I tend to play mid-lane under the assumption that I won't be getting blue buffs and build accordingly.

It's funny how much buying a second Doran's Ring on your first back helps your mana sustain.

In low elo a lot of people watch streams and high elo play where they do certain things with their team (in this instance giving buffs) and automatically assume that's what needs to happen if they play that role 100% of the games they play.

Gee whiz, when I jungle, I have the opposite problem. I have to beg my mid laner, who will inevitably benefit from the Blue buff more than me, to come take it.

It's not a problem I'll probably steal your jungle anyways.

Right after I get done stealing the enemy's.

It's nothing personal I just love farm.

Dear Self-Focused Junglers,

Please remember that buffs, like everything else, are team resources, just like that wave under mid tower you are happy to clear if I'm not around. As a mid-laner, I probably benefit most from the blue buff, unless I'm playing a manaless and/or AD mid. Even if I don't have tons of kills, it's best to assume I should get buffs after the first blue. Though it may sometimes be a bad idea for me to take the buff, like when I'm getting camped or have died several times to a now snowballing opponent, taking blue buff automatically makes me think you are not team focused. If you ask me to take it, I'll probably decline in these situations.

Also, though I know not every jungler does this, when you smite blue when I'm there to take it and will use it better, it proves my point further, and again, makes you seem self-focused rather than team-focused.

Signed, Mid-laners

(some expansion of the above points)

There's a reason that pro teams give blues to mids, and that's because, outside of the manaless ADs, they benefit the most from them. Blue gives mana regen, 10% CDR, and 15% AP. While some junglers benefit from the first two, they usually don't get as much from the AP bonus. The second blue buff often comes at a point where the mid hasn't had a chance to build too many items, so the AP bonus may not be as large, but the mana regen and CDR are relatively more helpful. When the later buffs come, mid will usually have enough mana items to not need the mana regen as much, but will be getting more AP in by that point.

I haven't played jungle this season, but I know they have added multiple items that give options for mana if you need it. Hunter's Machete and its upgrades give 150%/180% mana regen in the jungle and river. Runic Echoes adds even more mana regen to that. I know Hunter's Potion is fairly ignored and 35 mana per camp isn't much, but it seems like it should at least take the edge off. I'm not sure if Secret Stash interacts with Hunter's Potion, but even if it did, it probably wouldn't be worth. Meditation, however, could be a viable mastery for mana intensive junglers. It doesn't matter if you can do 5% bonus damage below 40% if you can't get them there because you have no mana.

Also, in response to another comment you made in the thread, try to be aware of where the wave is when you are going to start the buff. If the wave is already at the tower and you expect mid to come over to the buff immediately, that will cost experience and gold as the tower clears the wave while mid goes back and forth to the buff.
