Supports and jungle tanks reaching lvl 6 and 7 masteries

I've been playing a lot of tank Skarner lately in the jungle, and I secure around 4 dragons on a good game as well as a boatload of assists, but at the end of the game, I will get a B+ at most because I didn't rack up a bunch of farm and kills. I just finished a game as Soraka at 0/1/18, with a very high kill participation, and I got an A. How the hell am I supposed to reach the level 6 and 7 masteries in these champions if you can't get an S by being a team player??? I understand getting an S is supposed to be very challenging, but I feel like right now the champ mastery system just caters to the carries who get 20 kills and 300+ farm per game, and not giving enough credit to the people who set up those hard carriers.

Thoughts?

You're being compared to others on the same champ in the same role, so if people in your champ/role combo typically don't get many kills/farm, then you don't need much in the way of kills/farm to get a good grade.

For supports in particular, kills are counted the same as assists now, so really it's just a matter of being a really good support if you want S grades. Supports usually aren't focused much, so good kda's are fairly common, and perfect kdas are probably called for in a number of cases. Still, lots more goes into it than just kda/cs, theres also objective participation, wards placed, wards cleared, and similar things like that, so in many cases people might seem like they have an amazing game on the basis of kda, but if you look at their other stats they were only average or worse in those other areas, which is why their grade(s) weren't as good as they expected.
