the only thing less fun than dealing with the problematic champs in urf (And how we could fix)
Is dealing with the problematic champs in urf on a champ you never wanted to play but were forced to
can we just explore other avenues?
Option A.) Urf 'instalock'. You pick your champ. you pick five champs you don't want to play against. Matchmaking will pop you in a team with your champ locked in, and against an enemy team that does not contain any of the champions your or your teammates have elected to not play as. these invisible bans are non-restrictive and wont lock someone out, meanwhile you wont ever feel locked out. People who want to play as one of those commonly banned champions will simply have to wait longer for those matches, but noone who doesn't want to face against them will have to.
option B.) Simple draft pick: yup
Option C.) Custom urf with draft:
Option D.) Unlock all the runes. Some champs i don't want to play without lethal tempo regardless, sometimes I wish I could build that muramana with manaflow band simply for the on hit proc just because meme life
Option D.) Restrict by 'weight class': This would be convoluted but effectively we can separate champs by their weight class, in effect this would mostly be cutting champions up into a few tiers that could assist in their fairest placement against eachother. This could even be in addition to option A in a sense where you pick your champion and are then matched against champions who would contain the best matchup for you, players will be put in a lobby with champions within one tier of their list, with a set values, as such you could be in a game of Tanks, juggernauts, and marksmen or you could be in a game with mages, assassins and juggernauts, or you could be in a mage/assassin/adc game, super light weight containing adcs and enchanter supports lends itself well to being the Wrap around division to counter tanks, whereas super tanky supports can function in their support roles or just be tanky devils
Also as a note on my list and why i chose it this way, any list hard counters two below it, by removing these interactions we open up healthier matches. Mages don't have to deal with juggernauts don't have to deal with adcs, don't have to deal with assassins. In addition to this, champions will be matched against other who play similarly to them in some capacity, so instead of
1v9 against a team of enemy adcs, we'll see him have to 1v9 against fighters/assassins as well as mages
lets say a rough idea of this would be as follows
Super Heavy weight: Wardens/vanguards, basically a wet noodle fight to the extreme
Heavy weight: a good mix of Juggernauts and thicc bruisers
Medium weight: less dense bruisers and fighters, as well as assassins
Lightweight: Mages and some caster based marksmen
Super light: Most adcs/Enchanter supports and certain mages
