Every time I see her in game she rivals the dmg of mid lanes and top laners. As a support this kind of dmg is ridiculous. She has both a snare a knockup, her plants slow, her ult is aoe and can win a teamfight easily. No idea why a support has this much damage and impact on the game. Compare her to champs like Janna and Sona and it's ridiculous.
She also is not technically a Support....she is a mid laner you goob
If you're looking for tips, NEVER engage in the jungle. That is her home and any fight will go her way with ult. Stick to lanes.
If laning is your problem, her snare is slow, so keep good vision in the bushes and you'll do fine. Be very reactive if you see a bulb appear, since that's where a snare/damage is coming up.
Any poke is good against her. Zyra has no form of sustain other then pots, so poke like Sona, Corki, or Varus, and she'll either be an easy kill or be forced back to base. Also, Zyra is like Soraka where you want to focus her first. Bursting her down quick in a 2v2 fight bot lane, will make it become a 2v1 real quick with it in your favor, with only a slightly useless passive to be feared.
If you aren't looking for advice and are just QQ'ing, then git gud scrub. ;D
A good zyra support knows that she only needs a single item early enough on to top the damage to champions charts. The thing is that a lot off that damage is useless, it's about 200-300 poke damage (in the mid-late game) which normally gets healed back up quickly.
She really doesn't scale well with pure AP, so really the window of damage is much smaller than you think. Also like other people have already said, she has zero mobility, so in the current league of dashes, she is an unsafe pick. Also her passive is absolutely useless, i'd argue it's probably one of the worst in the game.
Excluding maybe elise, who's passive is actually just her spiderlings, which with current champion design would probably not be acceptable as her only passive, because you know multiple passives

maybe because Zyra is actually a mid laner and not a support? maybe you shouldn't let her hit you with her root? maybe you should kill her plants and/or get out of their range? do not come here complaining about Zyra dealing damage because people are too stupid to let her plants poke them to death
Zyra has always been known to pump out Heimerdinger amounts of DPS thanks to her pets. I prefer to play her mid, since I can build selfish, midlaner items on her and by end game, commonly break the 60,000 damage threshold.
She's not without weaknesses though, especially in support where she is one of the squishiest immobile supports in the game. Both Janna and Sona have mobility and sustain abilities. Zyra however, does not. You'll find many Zyra supports just building her like she's a second APC in the bot lane. Probably because she was meant to be a mid laner.
