It's not for you.

It gets tiring having to repeat this every single time there's a rework of any kind, but I will:

The rework is not for you, if you like the version of the champion that's in need of a rework. It's for everyone else.

If you like something that's a problem for the game, or a problem for balance, or a problem for the company's profits, or simply outdated, then their decision to change it is clearly not intended to be in line with your desires.

Edit: For anyone who thinks I mean Pantheon, this was actually in reference to the hopefully upcoming Aurelion Sol changes. Changes which look like they're finally trying to salvage his gimmick into a working kit. I actually haven't seen any complaints about Pantheon. Probably because as far as what you do with him goes, the only thing they're changing is how the Q works, and no one's complaining about that since the minion aggro changes a while back screwed it over anyway.

every rework removes 100% of the fun from a champion just for the sake of a minigame and competitive viability

I'm fully prepared for the eventual Nasus rework. I love playing him, but at the same time, I do recognize just how unhealthy his design is at its core.

It's mostly people just not willing to accept they've been abusing a skilless statcheck the entire time.

There are two sides to the "it's for everyone else" coin. There are people who don't want to play against the pre-rework version, and people who might want to play the reworked version.

On the camp of people who might like to play the reworked version of the champion, this seems like a poor stance IMO. There are other champions in the game, and reworking anything that someone has mained and loved, potentially for years, is a big "fuck you" to them.

I can definitely see the argument for any cancerous champion. This is, however, an extremely subjective topic.

What about situations where RIOT takes champions who aren't problems or are small problems, and reworks them into even more of a problem? Like Akali. The new Akali is way more fun to me than the old one was, but she has also been far more of a balance nightmare than the old one ever was.

As far as improving outdated champions goes, I can only think that maybe RIOT should not have released 145 champions. No other moba has such a massive roster. It is an impossible task to balance this game. And, on that note, I fully believe that instead of reworking old champions, they should keep them intact for the people who love them....even if those champions have to be made a bit on the weaker side so that they aren't problems.

old warwick was fun because he had more options, u know, variety.

the reworked one is slow and clunky. he is also locked into one viable build, which is mostly a tank build. where i have i seen this before Sion Poppy Nunu Galio Maokai Urgot

riot just said "frick the players" with some of their reworks.

and u dont need "mechanics" to be fun. the proof is in the pudding

Katarina was never in need of a rework and yet here we are now....with an even more toxic version of the champion who can never be balanced. Yipee-kai-yay!

Most reworks are about making the target champion a bit more skilled, and forgiving for misses, and more rewarding for hits.

Lower CD, lower mana cost, better mobility, more skillshots. Skillshots are life, skillshots are love.
