Question over preseason/new account MMR

I know everything about how if you rank during the preseason, you will help out your MMR a bit. I'm currently leveling up a new account out of boredom and to play on the side during dodge timers, etc.. Because this new account will not have any ranked MMR besides normals, do my preseason games count as my "first ranked games/ranked MMR"? I'm sure the obvious answer is yes, but I've never tried or talked to anyone doing it, so if anyone knows and could clear this up so I know whether or not to rank my account during preseason, I'd appreciate it.

Reasoning behind this- I plan on doing above average in my promos and I don't want to get a soft reset from playing in post season and move from mid gold/plat to silver when I could just wait two months for the season to begin.
