Id really love to know, since you can build cho straight ap, get ridiculously tanky, and still CC your lane opponent to all holy hell. How is his free sustain fair?

his sustain is his passive. most passives cost no mana.

Vorpal spikes E? Because of his low attack speed and it doesn't do too much damage (you also have to get in their face to do so)

Also his E doesn't give him sustain, it's his passive (which could stand to be toned down a bit though.)

Most sustain out there is free. Except, you know, that it costs gold or takes up part of a champion's kit...

Cho gets a large amount of health from his ult, but no free resistances (and if he builds straight AP might not buy them), leaving him wide open to items like BotRK. On top of that, his mana costs (especially early game) are HUGE, meaning if his Vorpal Spikes cost mana, he'd be out in a about five seconds and be unable to use anything in his kit to fight with. So there's your answer: because his mana costs are already quite high.

Because it's his passive...? That's not free sustain, that's his passive.

Passives, last time I checked, are part of every champion. Saying Cho'Gath gets free sustain (and then claiming it isn't fair) is like saying Poppy gets free damage reduction or that Caitlyn gets free crits.

Should Cho'Gath just not have a passive like everyone else? Would that be "fair?"

I agree Chogath needs some re-balance especially when it takes your entire team to kill him

cuz he sucks

Unlike say Nasus's Soul Eater, Cho's sustain only works after he killed something.

Trundle, Morg, Shen Q etc don't even need to last hit to get the sustain. His E just adds like 30 dmg magic (in laning phase) to his autos.
