Help get Riot to Rework the Matchmaking and MMR System for Season 6

Have you written, complained, or raged at Riot's Player Support and their lack of transparency about issues and concerns surrounding the game? Were you met with automated responses and links to FAQs and general solutions that didn't directly serve or help your need? Well, post any changes you feel need to be made to League of Legends before or during Season 6.

Why am I posting this? Riot's Player Support on several occasions has refused to comment on problem areas in their game, causing me to assume their either don't want to acknowledge the problems or don't want to resolve the issues. When Player Support gets tired of dealing with you, they will suggest that you post on the forums in hopes that it will get popular and attract the attention of a Riot employee (I don't consider this likely, but at this point, I have nothing to lose.

This upcoming system, Riot is going to be applying changes to Ranked by adding the Teambuilder function (which is arguably also flawed in Normals). Which this in mind, I don't see Riot improving League of Legends for the general player if it doesn't benefit Platinum / Pro Players.

So, what do you think? Am I making up the flaws with the Matchmaking System? Are you completely satisfied with continuously losing your promotional games because the current MMR system isn't an accurate gauge of players' skill mechanically, skill with champions, skill in/which lane, and/or overall knowledge of items, strategy, warding, or play style.

Lastly, do you feel there are other flaws in League of Legends that are more important than the matchmaking and MMR system that should be acknowledged, addressed, and fixed?

I think you are making up flaws because RIOT is going to make it easier for players in the Bronze to Gold range to pass their promos but not make it easier for Platinum+ players to do so. This is an example of RIOT doing the opposite of what you are saying that they are doing.

Also it seems to me that Player Support isn't the place to talk about flaws in matchmaking and the ranked system.

Honestly, most anything else in LoL is probably more important to talk about than the matchmaking system.

But if there is something in the matchmaking system that might bear looking into more closely, it would probably be placement matches because there are only 10 placement matches and winning or losing a placement match can mean 20 to 30 matches once you get out of placements to close the gap created by that outcome. Having a Diamond player who plays Platinum players in placements, has a bad run of it, and then ends up playing Silver players once placement matches end and needing to play hundreds of games to recover seems strange to me. Or having what are probably Bronze Tier players have a good run and get placed in high Silver... maybe these outward visuals don't really correspond to the MMR behind the scenes, but it does seem that there may be some flaws in how placement matches work. I would think that you would actually need at least 30 games to have a reasonable initial placement in most match making systems (generally speaking). So I'm curious about what factors are playing into having such a small number of placement matches. I know it's great when you read about some pro player grinding back to challenger a day or two after the season starts, but that isn't necessarily an indication of a healthy matchmaking system because there is no real need for a matchmaking system to allow players to be able to grind back to challenger a couple days after a season starts. There's a lot to think about when you look at a matchmaking system so don't take any of this as meaning that the matchmaking system being used by RIOT is "wrong". Try to avoid putting a blame on a system simply because you don't know what's actually going on behind the scenes. If you want to analyze matchmaking systems, then you probably need a serious degree in statistics for and a passionate interest in.

I must also clarify something with the placement matches. I believe they had a cap on them that limited the tier you could reach based on your placement the previous season. For example, winning all team placement matches won't make you an instant Diamond player due to past ELO. This is ultimately why I feel that so many players make multiple accounts after they improve. I'm sure this has a negative effect on the matchmaking and MMR system being accurate.
