Tips for a bronze 3

I just got level 30 this weekend and got placed in bronze 2. I have only won like 5 out of 30 matches and would like some advice on mid lane and support (I mostly play lux and Braum).

If you're just starting out, I know you're eager to play ranked, but I recommend some training after level 30. I jumped right in and I had a bad time.

You should definitely try to prioritize the following in approximately this order:

-Avoiding death, even being executed -Farm minions; try to do it PERFECTLY (unless you're support) -Take towers/inhibitors -Take secondary objectives (Dragon, Barron) -Getting Kills

These are some common mistakes players make, and contributes to a lot of losses (or wins for me, when my opponents don't have their priorities straight).

To explain:

Death is bad. I shouldn't have to say that, but sending someone back to base is better than killing them and getting killed by a tower or another enemy. This gives gold to the enemy team, and if you're alone one champion on the other team is also going to get gold, where you are the only one on your team getting gold for the kill. Also, when you're dead, you aren't farming, you aren't gaining XP, and you're not putting pressure on objectives.

Farm is so much more important than Kills. If you're at a mechanical skill standoff, where neither player can kill the other, the more successful one will be the one with more farm. Having a farm advantage translates to a gold/xp advantage, meaning you are more likely to push an enemy out of lane or kill them. Skip this talk about farm if you're a support, or replace it with using your support item. Don't take cs from the carry, because of what I just said; it is more crucial to an ADC than pretty much any other role to farm hard. If you're Lulu, rake in the gold by auto'ing people and getting those Pix bolt procs from Frost Queen's. If you're Braum and you have a relic shield proc it as often as possible, and prioritize cannon minions only when spoils of war is active.

Towers are next on the list because they get you directly closer to winning the game. Dragon, Rift Herald, and Baron are next, because they give your whole team an advantage, or help you pressure objectives in some way (i.e. the mini baron buff from Rift Herald). Kills are last because they give you more gold, and help you take objectives, but are not entirely necessary to win and has the highest risk per the reward or payoff. Only get kills if you have it dropped into your lap; don't make a huge, risky play for a kill. I cannot stress enough that kills =/= advantage. A kill lead is one of the easiest things to catch up to in game, where having a lead in dragons killed or towers taken is much more difficult to combat.

Vision is important, but in bronze a lot of people don't look at their map often enough. Use good warding practices for later, or just in case your team actually looks at the map. It's less common in bronze, but it happens.

Hope this helps you out, and good luck in your ranked endeavors!

You die alot (average 7.4 deaths in your last 18 games - didn't include the 2 bot games) and cs quite poorly (2.87 cs/min in your past 9 games - didn't include any support games).

Focus on objectives and cs rather than kills, you are likely chasing kills alot and getting baited into dying. Killing your enemy and getting no objectives out of it is not much of an advantage.

Also focus on warding. You have purchased 0 pink wards in your last 20 games, and are likely forgetting to use your trinket as well. This may result in you dying to ganks quite frequently, and having poor knowledge of when a good time for your own jungler to come would be.

  1. Learn a lot of champions per role and buy them. It makes picking into team comps ( something you will learn ) and counter picking much easier

  2. If you ever find a champion you absolutely HATE to play against, I kid you not, buy them and start playing them. The best way to learn how to play AGAINST champions is to play that champion.

General ranked tips:

  1. Don't get mad at your team. It makes ranked un-fun for you and your team, and you will be much more likely to win a game when you keep your head clear and focused.

  2. If you like to listen to music while you play like I do, I strongly recommend not listening to anything super angry like metal and just general fuck the world music. Kinda ties into #1.

  3. You will NOT CLIMB FAR if you sit and blame your teams for your losses. The only person's actions you can monitor is your own. So if you can tell your team is maybe not the best, be a leader and call shots, be encouraging, give advice.

  4. Take breaks from ranked. It get's so frustrating keeping track of your LP that you might forget it is just a game, go play some normals and have fun

  5. Don't feel like you need to carry the game through damage. CC will win games, so champs like yasuo zed master yi and so on are not very good. And CC is 100% reliable, a glass cannon getting fed is not.

Good luck out there man!

I wrote this awhile back. These tips are what I did to get from where you are to where I am now. I am only Gold 3, but I don't play as much anymore unless I am playing with friends. Been playing a year and a half and went from Bronze 4 to Gold 3 and could probably push Platinum if I still played as much as before. Lots of season left, aim for Silver though. Not just Silver, but aim for Silver 2-3 because that, I believe, shows you're established in the rank and not hovering on Bronze and Silver 5. Since I am hovering in Gold 3 playing casually, I think I have established myself to the point where I am good enough to play in Gold, and with more practice and fundamentals I could press for Platinum.

Lux into ad mid assassins is bad in most situations. Braum is ok, but heavily reliant on your team and his passive procing.

  1. In general you should have 3-5 champions which you can play at an average or greater level for each lane. Have a main champ for every lane, 1 back up, and one last resort for minimum coverage.

  2. Know your play style. With Lux and Braum you tend to be aggressive. So picking aggressive champions would suit you greatly for your natural play style. Note that aggressive means looking to fight champions over other ways of gold generation while passive focuses on farming for gold and getting a few items under your belt. Good champs (aggressive): Ahri Diana Annie Quinn Riven Sona Velkoz Lucian Tristana Shyvana Soraka Morgana LeeSin Elise Leblanc Bad examples (passive champs): Veigar Chogath Gangplank Nasus Warwick Rammus Heimerdinger Anivia Galio Illaoi Jhin Singed Vayne KogMaw Jinx

  3. Ward like no tomorrow. Especially as a support, item 2049 should be one of the first items you get, either Finnish your starting item then sight stone or sight stone before all others. As a Mid laner, ward (pink) river pixel bushes on the sides that receive less jungle presence since it will last longer. Use your vision trinket for the other side lane river bush.

  4. Should be a given but always take flash.

  5. Take ignite as a Support only if they have massive healing potentials (i.e. soraka, mundo, sona, nami, etc), or they are not AA based where high APS (attacks per second) makes the majority of their damage output (i.e. Yi, Vayne, Jinx, Xin Zhao, Kayle, etc are AA based champs where as say, Corki and Ezreal are not).

  6. Try and keep positive. In both attitude and KDA. Toxicity will lose games faster than any other thing (save intentionally feeding). Shoot for a less than 10 (although the lower the better) deaths per game average. Yes kills are important, but a trade of kills is not just a win for your side especially if they got an assist as well. So not dying is already a +1 for your side.

  7. When not Support, make sure you stay well farmed. Minions generate more consistent gold and experience than kills do. The 300 ish gold for a kill is nice, but think it as a bonus where minion farming is your main income.

  8. If you cant join them, beat them. I for some reason you cant join in a fight, say you are mid and cannot catch the roam bot lane, warn them to play safe and press the tower of the player who roamed.

  9. Objectives > CS > Kills. Kills are not needed to win where as taking objectives and clearing waves of minions are. But just farming isn't going to get you the win screen so go for towers.

  10. Quicker games > Longer games, since death timers remove most advantages you may have gained. Anything over 35 minutes where you haven't made a major dent (exposed nexus turrets, inhibs down, that stuff) tend to be decided on a single fight where either side could win.

  11. BUILDS ARE NOT STATIC. Itemize for the enemy team. Up against heavy AP? Get some magic resistance and maybe a Banner of Command. Their tank heavy? Draft someone with %health damage like Vayne, or get something like item 3165 or item 3151 to stop their sustain and deal damage over time. Their building magic resistance and armor? Get pen items.

  12. Go all in if you get level 2 before they do, and MAKE THIS CLEAR TO EVERYONE ON YOUR TEAM. You will more likely than not at least make them use a summoner because a level 2 advantage is massive in both stats and kill potential that most opponents will not expect.

  13. Know if your team is going to out scale the opponents in the late game. If not then win before 40 minutes.

  14. As a mid laner you have the easiest lane to provide support for the others (Not counting Jungler since that is all they do). Soif you see the opportunity to help out, do so. But don't sacrifice pressure in the mid for a half assed roam where you didn't even get an assist.

  15. there is always more to learn. Keep up with the meta, and don't be unwilling to try other champs (off meta) if you are on a loosing streak.

pick a champ for a balanced team comp not just one you know to play. if your team comp sucks you will most likely lose and dont play ranked untill you have a good knowledge on a at least 2-3 champs for the lanes you pick

SwiftKitten883/17/2016, 10:06:05 PM1 votes

unless you play a champ that can carry regardless of how much your teammates fed

aka MasterYi Udyr MonkeyKing Volibear Garen Yasuo XinZhao Vayne Diana Jax Shyvana

your best bet is to que with other players your skill lvl they don't even need to win their lane.. they just need to not feed. if you can get teammates who don't feed. you can carry as any champ.. unfortunately unless you form a party.. u cant really prevent that..
