Need some help from Diana players

I was looking for a new champion to pick up and I am thinking of Diana. Now I have a question:

Is it true that Diana is similar in playstyle to Vi ( which is my main champion atm ), as an all in, semi bursty / tanky disruptor? Or are the playstyles quite different? And if mostly it is not, CAN it be?

I am asking this question because I usually see Diana players build quite glassy and was wondering if Diana would function well if built more on the tanky side without pure offensive items like Rabbadon / Void.

Diana is a pretty weird champion. She more relates to Akali than Vi. But yes, a typical Diana build gets her to be pretty decently tanky and very bursty. Where Vi can get very tanky and pretty bursty. She's a very very fun champion though.

You might be too late this week, but I would suggest playing her during free week to see if you like her.

She's like a strange mix of Akali and Vi, but yeah Vi can dash twice in one rotation, and so can Diana. Diana's power spike is a lvl 6, where she can burst down a squishy pretty quickly once she gets her ult even without items. And yes, most people build her to be pretty tanky because usually once she goes into a team, she has no way to go out of it unless you can ninja your way out with a Q > R into a jungle camp or minions or something. In a nutshell, she's a somewhat tanky assassin.

While she might be a bit difficult to grasp at first because of her Q being a curved skillshot that takes some time getting used to, her general combo is pretty easy once you get the hang of it: Q > R > AA > W > AA > E > AA > R. AA meaning autoattacks; mix in auto attacks for maximum effect because of her passive. If you have Q up again before the second R, slap them with it before ulting in so that you can get it to remain refreshed shall you need it again.

Oh, and the new protobelt item was just MADE for her. It adds more to her burst, a bit more mobility, and some tankiness. Plus, if you follow E up with a protobelt blast, most of the rockets are going to hit the target, softening them up if not killing them.

Shes played almost exactly like akali but i actually dont recommend her at all, her kit is very contradicting like your supposed to R for kills then W while running away or W before the R for more burst Dmg but the thing is once you R you are just slaughtered by the enemy, so maybe you get the adc or squishy champion but your ALWAYS guaranteed to die afterwards its ridiculously stupid for team fights.

Basically shes a suicide akali bomb... yep.. BOOM.

Most play her as assasin, but she can be used in similar ways to vi, though with less cc and more stickiness and some poke.

Though it depends a bit on where you play her. As a jungler, she is mostly forced into assasin, as cinderhulk doesn't work tha great on her and the ap item isn't to great for bruiser builts. As bruiser, she works best if played top from my experience. I prefer as/on-hit for bruisr diana, but magicpen focused builts work aswell. However, always try to get max cdr, and always get something for mana. If you go for extendet fights, she drains your mana really fast.

diana is a combat mage so building AP items that give resistances are really good, her all in is strong as hell and if you get a few items you can splitpush VERY efficiently and outduel alot of champions
