Change announcer's line when Azir turret goes down

Whenever Azir's turrets self-destruct, the announcer says the default "your turret has been destroyed!", which leads to me hurriedly looking over the map to see which of our turrets went down for a second or two before realizing what happened.

Changing the line to something like "Azir's turret has been destroyed" or "Azir's turret has self-destructed" would be better. It avoids the panic you get when you hear "your turret" and realize one of your turrets has been destroyed by completely omitting that phrase.

It happened to me too, but you soon start noticing the Azir's turret symbol. I think Riot could've avoided this whole confusion by calling them 'Constructs" instead of turrets. Then the term 'construct' could be applied to later champions with similar abilities or be able to build 'constructs'

Can we just not announce when it blows up? It's really un-necessary.

They should call it "Sun Disc" or "Obelisk" has been destroyed

Agree. Although it does show the Sun Disc icon, it's always a little worrying when you just hear "a turret has been destroyed" and your first reaction is to look around the map in unneeded panic.

Could change it to something like: "...and Azir begins to witness the fall of Shurima again!"

As much as I jiggle when that happens, because it confuses everyone. I would like it indeed changed, as an little extra, you can see from the announcer text on the right side that it is an turret from Azir. Just in case you didn't know.

+1 to this

Do you not pay attention? It's got a specific image. If it's gold, it's Azir's turret. Not that hard.

We need summoner 13 !

But yeah seriously, I think at least either the removal of the announcer line or a change would be good.

I'd be fine with just the text showing the turret destroyed.

This was mentioned on the PBE but apparently never did anything about it.

Can riot update the announcer?

ToughFluffs9/18/2014, 10:33:26 PM1 votes

Yes please, the changed icon is nice, and helps, but just for the sake of uniformity. It feels like someone just looked at it and said "I'm too lazy to change this" otherwise.

It might be better if the announcer said "An Ally/Enemy Sun Oblisk has Self Destructed."

Something must be done!

Jingerbeardman9/19/2014, 9:54:18 PM1 votes

yeah I agree to this, it is weird to have it say that when nothing actually kills it.

better announcement when it dies on its own would be "a turret has expired"

I noticed his soldiers are actually counted as seperate entities in damage calculations (death report)

If they were to change the announcer voice, then they would have to re-hire the voice actor (or get a completely different one and restart it), which is expensive. I personally don't think it's necessary (momentary panic, but it's not too difficult to look up and see the giant sun disc pictures), but I agree that it would probably be easier to just not say anything when that happens.

Rito's all about clarity until they get lazy.... Another good example of it in action. To bad they ignore all feedback that isn't buttering them up.
