The next time you find a champion OP, do yourself a favor and play.

And no, one time in a normal during their free week isn't enough. I mean sit down and delve deep into them. 25 to 50 game minimum deep, and when you feel like you have some kind of mastery with them, take them into rank then where the stakes are higher, you can get properly counterpicked and people tend to know what they are doing and give more effort (tend to.)

I am not going to say that there aren't champions that aren't dumb right now, Vayne is dumb, Riven needs some toning, Hecarim is dumb, etc, HOWEVER, personal mastery of champions does FAR more then actual skills in kits and half these champions aren't anywhere near as easy and braindead as you think.

At times, this thought process will just confirm your suspicions, but more often then not, it will help you see WHY said champions have the powers they do and even teach you ways to beat them. I honestly believe champion QQ would plummet if people actually did this.

So your solution to Vayne, riven etc, is. Can’t beat em, join em. Cool. Continue the flavor of the month band wagon.

I agree entirely. Though for me I can figure out the champion pretty well even after a few games, that is because I know what I am looking for. Plus I also watch how others play them as well.

The main reason something is "op" to someone is that they do not understand it. What is "op" to some is not "op" to others.... and the main reason for this is that some people have better understandings of champions than others.

Ive playing Yasuo multiple times, still think he is OP.

Amen brother. But at the same time.... Riot pls do something about vayne. I am trash adc and will never be able to make any adc work. But I think a hyperscaller that can duel AND be extremely useful on 2 items warrants some "adjustments" if you will.

Because in ranked, people totally have the time to bomb 40-50 games learning them. And like playing them in Norms totally creates mastery in ranked.

Lmfao.

or just don't play league that much, cuz it's garbage

I like this, noticed your name after your response to my Riven comment

bless your soul

Another thing is, you can't really judge a champion's overall strength/weakness. You can judge their strength in the rank you play them.

Really only applies for popular champions. Next time Garen is op, he will be nerfed before you get 25 games on him. Hecarim nerf announced before most players even got a chance to save up the ip to buy him much less get any meaningful experience. Champions like Vayne and riven tend to get more leeway than most champions.

You're not going to learn enough that way. The game favors one tricks. Its better to dodge a shitgame than get frustrated because riot buffed vayne or zed for the nth time.

last time I did this I ended up with 85% wr in mid/high dia mmr on sion, doesn't really go well with your point tho.

OHminus4/24/2019, 2:47:56 AM1 votes

Play 25-50 games + ranked games

Yea ain't no one got time for that.

Greenette4/24/2019, 3:10:41 AM1 votes

This isn't a cover all rule lol. There's no context at all, if you're Garen vs Quinn then yeah, she's gonna seem op but she's not. She's conditionally overpowered and this is the case for a lot of champs.

But there certainly are champs that actually are overpowered from the start of the game, I'm not going to trigger people by listing them but we generally know who they are.

I personally think Urgot is overpowered for a top laner but I have zero interest in playing him because I dislike his kit. Instead I'd rather hone my skills on champs I actually do enjoy, so that I can overcome the op match ups comfortably. This advice might work for some but I have a feeling the majority of people won't go out of their way to play a champ just to learn how to beat them, using other champs they like playing.

It's like Mark Wahlberg from The Other Guys. He's so masculine and manly that he learned ballet just to make fun of the soft men who did ballet. It's so roundabout.

Another thing is, if one person has 1mil mastery on a champion. It means they know the ins and outs of every single matchup. You can't just go with 20k mastery and think you will beat them.

Also, stop playing into other champions' strengths. "oh look, yasuo has those swirly particles around him, let me get that minion real quick before I back, oh he is dashing...DAshing..DASHING.. FUCKIGNOPPIECEOFCRAPFIXRITO"

OneMustFall4/24/2019, 5:32:20 AM1 votes

I agree with the sentiment but asking someone to commit to playing 50 games of a champion just because they think it's broken isn't reasonable. There are stats for that.

I usually assume that I just played bad against the champion or they got really fed or they just counter my champion. The only way I would start to think a champion is overtuned is if I see the champion stomp consistently in almost every single game and there are stats to back up what I'm observing.

I've played MasterYi enough to tell you that even tho he is not "OP" he is hard to deal with If he is ahead. That's still won't change my opinion on his Alpha Strike (his Q). But it's not like you are going to see him often in higher ranks anyways...

Yenn4/24/2019, 7:26:18 AM1 votes

Except, you know, the 90% of cases where that OP champion is a melee top laner, the vast majority of which have an insane burden of knowledge, which you won't have until you've played dozens of games and every match up.

youthere4/23/2019, 11:42:12 PM1 votes

I find more often than not, the champions aren't OP, but specific items or keystones are unintentionally broken on certain champions.

kuzzy474/24/2019, 1:07:49 AM1 votes

Heca is good cuz jg ia bad. Not op quite bad when tf starts and kinda useless late.
