Ranked Win Streak

So why is it that whenever i have won 5 games in a row, I'm expected to get no benefit for my qualifiers from Silver 1 to Gold. Yet if I went from 0LP to 100LP in Silver 2, I would automatically go to Silver 1. I feel like i'm being screwed, has anyone else had this problem?
