Wits end. Underpowered? To Situational? Or needs a buff/removal?

Wit's ends has remained in the game for a relatively long period of time considering its incredibly low buy percentage almost on par with say Ohmwrecker. Considering in the new season MR runes have been taken away unless you go secondary for resolve tree, Champions who've previously been kept out of their roles have sprung into greater prowess. Teemo (even support), Katarina, Rumble, Sona, Zyra etc. have been finding greater success against this early nerf and for most AD non-tanks in the game Maw has been the staple choice to counter AP heavy compositions since Steraks is now not available for ranged champions to mitigate burst. The AS stat that it offers which certainly makes it appealing to only a select few group of champions, It is one of the few items that gives offensive power matched with respectable defensive stats (Steraks, GA, Zhonyas, Banshees veil, Maw etc.) And is also a very cost effective item for what it can provide. I guess what I'm getting at is I just want some more opinions does this item need to be buffed? removed? or reworked. In a time where the classic flat MR runes have been removed and liandrys/sorc boots has become a go to early rush to abuse this shift on champions that would typically not build it early otherwise so early. Wit's end is the only item that offers both attack speed and magic resistance remains a sleeper still. I Occasionally play champions that benefit from this item against very heavy AP comps and am regularly flamed for buying it regardless of how cheap and efficient it is, I feel as though half the community doesn't recognize it exists. I know its situational and I said that. But it belongs to a small group of items that offer both survivability and offensive power so why is it so ignored. Give me your thoughts guys.

Synergizes well with anyone that buys item 3124 but I do think it's very situational as well.

It's decently balanced, the problem is the champs that use it typically aren't the most viable anymore so it is underused. And it isn't part of a standard build for those champs anyway just a situational item.

"But it belongs to a small group of items that offer both survivability and offensive power so why is it so ignored. " Because the defense is only for certain opponents and the offense is good in certain builds. Because it shreds MR and deals magic damage as an item for auto-attackers. That's why it's niche.

Is there something wrong with it. I don't think so . I know I am not seeing a representative sample of games, I probably can't be, but I still see it being built for valid reasons.

A fight feels like its over by the time 5 auto attacks are done. Why would I want this over a Zeal item?

It's broken af on champions like Varus KogMaw

It's a good combo with item 3124 in on-hit builds; KogMaw loves the item and I feel like it's a better fit on on-hit Teemo than item 3115 is because you're not really building AP. I feel like the item would be better if Devourer still existed (300 magic damage every 2 autos was fun on melee sated users with old rageblade), but now that it doesn't, I feel like you'll only ever see it on champions that build both item 3124 and item 3085. It has its role in League, imo.

It's a good item for auto attack champions, especially those with innate on-hit abilities.

I don't mind Wit's as it is, and a buff would be scary on a champ like Warwick or Kayle because it already creates a synergy loop for them, enhancing their primary damage.

Personally I love building Wit's end on a Top Karma. It's actually extremely strong on her, because the auto attacks help speed up the recovery of her ult, and even if you're going to run a tank build, -5 to 25 Magic resist results in some lopsided damage in Karma to top laner duels. It also turns out to be a primary Teemo killer build he can't do anything about. If you went AP vs Teemo purely as Karma, his current Comet/Aery procs put him on top. If you rush a Wit's end, he just tickles, and you can punish the crap out of him. I also like it vs early resist builders top, because it directly reduces their ability to juggernaut. If you have an AP jungler ganking for you vs a juggernaut, and you have a Wit's end, Juggernauts just melt, even if they rushed a Spirit Visage. Without it, the Juggernaut often gets away. (Wit's end also confuses the crap out of them as to why they just died)

Broken on Warwick and Teemo

Threads been dead for a little bit but if anyones still here, from the popularity of hybrid ADCs especially in LCS such as kog maw and varus (built in mixed damage) seem to be the only champions who tend to build it. Lets be real here Kayle and AS Warwick are not highly viable picks unless you have considerable experience on those champions. Guinsoo's has been re-vamped a long time ago and this item wit's end sits in the dust, and from the comments most arguments and points state that this item relies heavily on that synergy. Even the other champions I would even consider building this item on last season like Master yi, Jax, xin zhao (old sated devourer abusers). All have been tweaked or shifted by the meta to build more tankier items such as Steraks (stronger synergy with triforce), GA with buffs to AD, and Warrior jg item as opposed to attack speed. Hell, even LCS teams are picking jax and building full tank now. Any thoughts on this item in season 8? Appreciate any feedback or opinions.

It's a strange item, but I do (with little thinking involved) build it on Bard occasionally. Usually my progression is do we need support/tank items (Locket), do we need AP (Liandry's), if no to both, and are we ahead? is yes, then I build Wit's end. It helps out my AP carries and makes me tanky.

Thanks for all the responses so fast guys I love it, and I mentioned the fact that I know its situational which has popped up numerous times again. So we can all agree it's reasonable on some champs in certain situations but at a .5% buy rate in a time where AP champs are more oppressive and rushing flat pen faster early do you think this item deserves a tweak/buff?

Jinx Hunter1/8/2018, 11:34:20 AM1 votes

The only way you can buff or positively change Wits end. Is if you make it melee only. Because if you don't, then these bastards KogMaw Ezreal are going to abuse the living hell out of it and be so obnoxiously broken that even Vayne will pale in comparison. Ezreal and Kog are broken enough.....DO NOT BUFF THEM!

trash, just remove
