Should there be an update to the controls to allow for a "unique extra ability" key?

To put forth some examples, some heroes in Heroes of the Storm use the 'D' key to access their Trait, such as Arthas, Johanna, Yrel, or Valeera. Unfortunately, this can't be done for League because the 'D' key is already reserved for Summoner's Spells.

But if there was room, would it be possible to assign some other key to a "Activate Trait" effect on certain Champions? Or is there too much spaghetti code for that?
