Zed Changes
The zed changes in this patch was to said be a "bug fix", where the cast time one his q now applies to his shadows as well, and casting q quickly after w no longer cancels the casting animation. These changes are really unnecessary since zed should be a high skill capped assassin that can catch people off guard with his fast movements and mobility. This whole change makes zed feel very sloppy and sluggish, especially during the laning phase where zed players would often do their full harass combo with w - q - e/ w - e - q, as It is now far slower giving the opponent plenty of time to dodge. Zed has been nerfed quite a bit during the years and he is already not quite where he used to be. With changes like lowering his attack speed, making changes to his ult, as well as putting a delay before allowing zed to swap back to his original position, there are many counter plays that are already in use. A good leblanc player, talon player, or even ekko can simply neglect zeds damage with their kit. A lot of defensive mages like Malzhar and lissandra have kits that can stop zed dead in his tracks or they can just simply rush zhonyas, rod of ages and farm until laning phase is over. Adding this nerf, or so called "bug fix" just further limits the options for zed, making the champion more and more one dimensional. A proof of this can be seen from competitive play where he is no longer played as often as he used to. There are many champs in the league like riven for example, who has her animation canceling, and it is a very important part of her kit. This was not changed at all even though it is very similar to zeds case. I think it's more of a mechanic that is available to zed players rather than an "exploit", like how it was poorly worded on the patchnotes. A similar change was done to zed a few patches ago where the ability to throw out a shuriken before shadowing and still gets to second shuriken to cast, was taken away also as a "bug fix". The trick wasn't easy to master and most zed players don't utilize it in their games, and it is definitely high risk high reward since it is easy to miss and it uses up a lot of energy. Changes like this closes many options for zed mains like me and they are unnecessary changes. It's like taking azir's ability to do the banana juke and it feels very unpleasant to play with. I don't understand why should changes like this be made when zed is not even extremely popular in the meta, which is full of control mages and death ball team comps that are already hard for assassin to fulfill their role. With the changes to the adcs, like extra mobility for quin, shotgun graves, and hyper carries like corki, more options and varieties should be available for assassins as well to compensate. But now i can't even do a w and q combo quick enough before someone can casually sidestep it. But i can use my q first then cast w to catch people off guard right? Oh wait... nevermind. I am currently in Plat 2 and i have played almost 500 games with zed in season 5 alone, so i have some knowledge of zed and the point that i'm making here is not invalid. I am now forced to look for better options in other assassins which there are only a few. I am pretty sure many assassin mains feel the same way as i do.
