Trading in lane and teamfights / masteries question

I've noticed whenever i make trades in general I'm taking way more damage than what used to feel normal. In bot lane, usually one of the duos has to back before 5 minutes as everyone just seems to be hitting so hard. So what used to be 'I took a bad trade, gotta last hit and play a bit safe until I back' has turned into 'I took a bad trade, I'm now so low I have to go back and lose my turret cause it's made out of paper mache now.'

3 days ago I started playing nothing but bot lane to get adjusted, and related to my earlier point, when I'm playing adc it seems teamfights start and finish so quickly that as an adc I don't feel like I have enough time to actually put out sufficient damage. It seems I auto no more than 5 times and it's like 'oh hey their front line is already barreling down my throat that was fast' or 'Hey we ran through them in 3 seconds it doesn't feel like I did anything.'

My question is - Is this due to the tuning up of offensive masteries, tuning down of defensive ones, or maybe a mix of both?
